Description
Knight-Strider Markan
The Diamond Saber
The sleeping grand master, the unassuming, the mere. Knight-Strider Markan is in truth the most wildly under-ranked, underrated, and unappreciated Knight of Arcanus. Not to say he isn’t beloved – no instructor is more popular with the Knight-Initiates, and none love their work more. He is everyone's favorite teacher - and even senior knights will more often then not yield to his judgement. Still, this love for Arcanus and his role as an instructor leave Markan with a lack of fieldwork and some have claimed a void of ambition. This keeps him in the lowest echelons of the Order despite his popularity and competence.
However, this simple Geomancer is in truth one of the most powerful mageknights of all time, and indeed one of the most powerful men alive. While many read “geomancer” and dismiss him as a mere “dirt mage,” his true magic manifests diamond, forming unbreakable barriers, blades to pierce through any ward or armor, and crystal lenses to magnify his immense power to preposterous intensities. He may bear the “mere” title of Knight-Strider, but he could keep up with any on the Arcane Council.
The number of those who have witnessed his true capacities is vanishingly small, to the point he is able to comfortably hide his true capacity. Wanting nothing to do with the politics and responsibility of such a revelation, he denies all such claims. Every last one, however, would testify to the soul-shaking magnitude of the quiet mage’s real power when unleashed. Indeed, none save Markan himself knows it, but it was his intervention at the Death of Vantioch that prevented the resulting earthquake from destroying Calathan entirely.
