Well, this picture symbolizes the deal Aikou made with a demon to save her mother from death. Basically, Aikou was born centuries ago, and a demon was terrorizing the village she lived in.That night she noticed the moon was a strange color, and much larger than usual. She heard from the village elders that it was a bad omen, but she didn't really believe them, though it did make her nervous.
Β The demon broke into her house a while after she and her parents went to bed. She heard a terrible scratching noise against her window, a noise similar to a sharp nail being scraped against glass. She didn't dare go near the window, but soon after she heard a loud bang-- the front door of her house being knocked open-- and Aikou crawled inside a small hidden space under the floor, but came out when she heard a blood-curdling scream escape her mother's mouth.
Bursting into her parents' bedroom by kicking the door, she saw the demon holding her mother up by the throat, ready to eat her. Aikou quickly intercepted and made a bargain with the demon.
She said that instead of her mother, the demon should take her instead. The demon, realizing Aikou was more 'nutritious' (being younger and stronger), agreed and let her mother go.
The demon then grabbed Aikou and took her very deep into the forest; the trees being so dense it was deadly quiet, not only from the inside, but from the outside as well. Any noises made in the forest would be blocked out by such density.
That night Aikou felt the most horrible, awful pain she had ever felt in her life, and hasn't felt such a pain even since then. She screamed until her voice gave out, and fought until her muscles were too weak to move anymore.
However... the demon's plan backfired. He meant to take Aikou's soul and devour it whole, leaving her a lifeless husk; but in the process Aikou ended up absorbing the demon's power, and before her soul was entirely gone, the missing parts were replaced by demonic ones, and she was able to hurt him enough for him to escape within an inch of his life. Since then she's been waiting for him to appear again, but hasn't had such luck. She desperately wants to kill him for ruining her, but she knows that doing this will not allow her to return to her human state.
She lives alone now, being an outcast from the people. They believe she is evil, as most humans do. Her only friends are the animals of the forest she lives in, and very rarely she's able to visit the city by hiding her feline ears and tail under clothing (with difficulty). The people who roam there figure the black stripes under her eyes are just strange tattoos.
Her story is changing, however, since a canon RP my friend and I are doing together has really expanded her past and personality. I'll write about that, but later, probably when the RP is over-- which I don't ever want it to end, it's so fun...
TL;DR: foreshadowing.

Well, a bunch of it I've put in storage by now... but there's this recent oneΒ
DeathI feel a sudden heaviness bearing down on my heart, pushing it down into the depths of my stomach. Tears erupt from my exhausted eyes again, and at this point time seems to slow down to a near-stopping speed. The world around me blurs and mixes, the trees and flowers die and wither away to ash. The sun sits dully in the sky, resting on grey, morose puffs of cloud. The clouds can't handle the weight and spill their guts to the earth, drenching everything and anything that lies beneath their swollen bodies.
A nagging sensation pulls at my mind and I look to my left. The only thing I can see amidst my suffocating, stabbing surroundings is a wolf, black as night, with eyes a deep, bloody color. He appears to smile at me, and my body falls to the ground heavily as if emerging from a rather intense swimming session.
Suddenly everyone around me disappears as I scream and bawl, curled up like an infant on the cold pavement littered with dirt and small ants. I no longer have the will to move. T

Hey, you got pretty good with digital painting. D: I tired several times and failed horribly. T_T I'm stagnating in making traditional linearts then colour them digitally. -_-

Well, I rely heavily on tutorials and references, though I never, ever trace anything. I usually just find a pose I like and draw it with the body weight I want, I wonder if that would be considered photographic memory? I dunno, but I've been told anatomy is my strong point XD
And I've been digitally painting for years... Ever since my good ol' 10-year-old self days on Neopets. LOL I think I've only had my tablet for about 3 years though... But damn, it's my most favorite thing ever @__@ I still draw traditionally sometimes, but it's a lot more rare now, mostly because I can't afford any art supplies or paper, at least not all the colors I need or want for something. I also am a perfectionist, so if I can't have the EXACT color and tool I want I just won't put up with it. ._.
It's all about practice, trial and error, etc etc. Do you use a tablet? I forgot... And what program are you using for digital art? Some programs are a LOT easier and lighter than others ^^ I used to use GIMP but now I rely solely on Paint Tool Sai.
I'm really happy with how this picture turned out though; usually in the beginning I'll make a super awesome line art and then just totally muck it up with the shading >__< And most of the time they don't have backgrounds, which turns a lot of people off...ugh. I notice that every drawing I've made that has a background has a lot more views than the others. It's a shame, because I've made some pretty good ones (IMO) with just white space around it...

Yeah I have a tablet, but it's not good, it has zero sensitivity, and my hands are simply cannot get used to draw flat on the table. -_- (I draw with bending my sketchbook a little.) My lines get crappy, and most of the time my full-digital drawings turn out to look like they've been made by a five years-old. >.< I have tons of my old colour pencils and fibre pens, not expensive, common stuff. I also use the cheapest notebook for sketches, my only expensive tools are pigment pens for outlining. I also rely on references, but I don't shun tracing completely, at least if it's for practicing, and not for making something with it and claim it's yours. I have both GIMP and Sai, but my early digital works were made with Photoshop. I have a fear of colouring my work because the same reason. I usually screw up the lineart with colouring. And for backgrounds... Yeah, I know what you mean. Funny thing that nowadays nobody gives a feck even if I do draw backgrounds. Or what's more funny: If I make a drawing I personally like, noone will like it. If I say it's a pile of crap, a lot of people goes and sees it. It's crazy. >.< Eeeh. I expressed my -quite negative - views on DA, I guess. It's all about friggin' fanart and pr0n... Nobody needs original works here, unless you are either a super-talented pro, or in good terms with one of the admins. :/

Aikou-H In reply to Kirassvaeri [2014-06-01 03:15:39 +0000 UTC]
Has it always had 0 sensitivity? If you tell me what brand and type it is, I could help you fix it, unless it's truly just a cheaper tablet and doesn't have all the pressure levels.
And if you want, I could help you with Sai ^^ my first stuff made in Sai was pretty... ehhhhh. It takes some getting used to, and there are some options I never knew Sai had until somebody told me about them MONTHS after I started using it..ugh.
It's reverse psychology... If you say your work is shit, more people will look at it and say "No, it's really, super good!", but if you boast and say you're proud of a piece then they just won't care. It's how a lot of annoying girls get attention on the internet; post pictures of themselves that are obviously sexy and say "OMG Im sooooo ugly ;'(" and they immediately get a million compliments.
DeviantART is an original art site, not somewhere totally based on fan art like some others, but it's turning out to be that way. Everything you see is 'from' something, drawn by someone else. And that's all people want to see, really. Because original characters are 'too boring' ... But, you know, before anime and manga characters BECAME anime and manga characters, they were somebody's ORIGINAL characters! They still are! ._.
dA is also supposed to be literature- and photography-friendly, but nobody's interested in that stuff, unless the literature is fanfiction. :/Β

My tablet is a SilverCrest SGT 10.6 A1 type, bought in a hypermarket before christmas two or so years ago. -_- It has very limited options in it's menu, and sensitivity isn't even there. I tried to optimize its pressure levels in GIMP, but nothing happened. :/ My friends mostly use Sai, so I have lots of people I can ask things, so it's good. (And thanks, if I'll have a question, I will ask. )
Reverse psychology, sadly, works in many ways. :/ (But if I say that my drawing is screwed up I mean it, not doing it to get more attention, dammit. >.< )
DA really was a good site back then, with a good community, that's why I stayed here after breaking up with my friends who brought me to the site. But a few years ago that community went away, and the site is occupied by idiots. :/ Yea, they "boring" your OC, but forget the fact that Inuyasha is also someone's OC, just got popular. and friggin MLP was a good cartoon when I was eight. The one the fan all over is just a copy. Literature wasn't all that popular before either, fanfiction was always stealing the show from original fiction. That's why I never put up written things here. I used to translate parts of my fiction and send it over to friends who got interested. Photography... Well, I still know a lot of good photographers here, I have tons of very nice nature and landscape photos in my faves. (My godmother is also a great photographer, I try to convince her to make a DA account. ) My problem is that all that makes it to the main page are not very artistic, but pornographic. :S (That also have many different sites to put it up to, why friggin DA? Because some of those peeps are friends of one of the admins or what?) You don't want to know what kind of sick people get to post their stuff here, and even if someone reports them admins don't give a flying fecknut. I have read and heard many people complaining about it, so I'm not making this up. Sadly. (I have wandered to the dark side of DevArt once. It was awful. And I'm not even a grumpy cat. >.< )

Yeah, dA has really changed a lot, even in the amount of time I've been here .. I think 4 or 5 years? Can't remember. It's really unfortunate though, there are some really amazing artists here that deserve more attention but don't get it because they don't draw fan art or write fanfiction. :I The way everything works is starting to remind me of Tumblr, which isn't a horrible site on its own, but deviantART is for ART .. not blogging and fanfiction.
I even used that tactic to bring people to my profile once; I started making bases and immediately got like, thousands of views and dozens of watchers... smh. Then when I wrote my first fanfiction I got more.
It really makes me mad, because the most viewed, favorited AND commented deviation I have is a BASE, something that's super damn easy to make (all you have to do is trace a picture for the body and color it...), though everything else I do that I've spent hours on gets almost no attention. I'm tempted to just move my bases to another account, but I don't make them anymore and I'd probably lose some watchers if I did... not that they look at my original work anyway. :/
Will you tell me something, honestly...? Is my art even good? I'm wondering if my art just irks people and THAT'S why I don't get attention.Β

I had a friend, who told people off because they were faving one of her fanworks about Pirates of the Caribbean, and she even had it in her scraps. Her original works didn't get any attention. So you aren't the only one with this issue, and it has nothing to do with how good is your art or not. (Personally, I think you are good, and getting better. Honestly, I wouldn't watch you if I would think otherwise. ) Back then I also made some fanart, and got some watchers because of it. They probably got pretty disappointed when I stopped fanarting. None of them gives a damn about me nowadays. :/ It's just people and their stupidity. If you were an art student already having super-awesome skills, maybe you could get watchers with only original art. (But my experience is, that original works has a really small fan-base in the beginning. You need your watchers to "advertise" your works, and maybe that will bring in a few new watchers, and so on. But that's not guarantees anything.) Funny you mentioned Tumblr, because most artists I know leaving DA are moving there. Even my friend has a Tumblr account, and she's more active there nowadays than here, for the same reasons we are talking about here. I think she has a very unique and twisted imagination, that's what makes her works original. And also, she draws better than me. Still gets no attention. So, really it has nothing to do with skills. Everything irks people if it's not MLP, *insert-actually-overhyped-anime/TV series-here*, or tits.
