Description A blade forged by perhaps that of the renowned nelri bladesmith, Thalian Haiel, or one of his apprentices. Nonetheless, this blade's design predates back to when the nelri of Ailyrenai worshipped Rothelim as their god. Such as well would add further weight to the claim that it was at least inspired by Thalian’s work, for he was a devoted follower of its religion and often forged blades in its name, during his younger life. Whether or not this blade’s creation had that intent, it has been preserved in a household loyal to the ancient philosophies of Esha, who in nelri lore is referred to as the name of a favoured angel of the Creator's, who with his blessing gave birth to the nelri's home planet.

lol, don't worry. I do plan on drawing a character again soon and take a break from these blade drawings... a little. I just needed to warm up.

Simple design, intricate details without being gawdy, appears sturdy and realistic, 10/10 in my book. Well done.

Thanks. It's definitely one of my designs I'm more proud of, too.

A cadre of brushes and trial and error? Most times when I make these backgrounds I just experiment.

the design is interesting, it looks very simple and yet I don't think I've seen one like it before. the crescent pommel is a nice touch too. another awesome piece!

That's a veeeeerrrrry nice sword there...hmmm, truly awesome. Is there a reason why the tip is slightly skewed? Is it supposed to be a saber style blade?

Aikurisu In reply to Morgalahan [2009-04-19 18:28:13 +0000 UTC]

Aye, I was originally going to go for a straight blade, but decided on something more between the lines of a katana and the former. Anyway, glad ya like.

Morgalahan In reply to Aikurisu [2009-04-20 11:49:39 +0000 UTC]

yup, that I do, although the blade confuses me, since it has the point of a katana, but its straight and double edged

Well the sword is great, especially the moon shape on top but the tip looks like you had problems deciding whether you want it skewed or straight. It leaves the viewer wondering if it was supposed to be that way or not...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aikurisu In reply to Comacold [2009-04-20 04:10:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, I drew the blade end first before I started with the rest of its design. So it was skewed right from the very beginning. Plus it's probably not such a bad thing making the viewer wonder, for I didn't want to create anything too generic.
