This was posted to tumblr awhile back so about time she made her way to dA.

So funny thing about Dragoness. I had had her sketched for a few months before actually coloring in this picture. I just kept putting it off and was just too tied up in school work. She actually went through two drafts before I got the design I wanted. (Which you can see on the original tumblr post: theblueskyphoenix.tumblr.com/p… ) She was just naughty in regards to wanting her appearance to be just right and well, we got what we got.

One of the biggest struggles for me personally was not making her a clone of my villain Terra from the Data Trilogy Remix. Doesn't help they're kind of similar in personality. (Though not entirely since one wanted power and ruler-ship over a world while the other just wants to watch the world burn.) But I think I succeeded. She feels like her own person and isn't a Terra knock off.

The main goal of her design is to be the opposite of what The Phoenix is. Darker colors, a more unwelcoming look and well... a bit more sharp. She went through a few color tests till we got this one. (Tried, blue, orange and red, though red was out of the question at the start since again... that would emulate Terra. One of her main colors was red.) Green was the end result. It's a flame color and well, usually a color of poison. Gives off a sickly look too which is fitting considering she is sick in the head.

So yeah, she serves as a mirror to The Phoenix in being an insane version, albeit no fire powers to speak of.

And that's about all I got. We will be seeing more of her as she will be appearing in my Top of the World AMV and there is one chapter cover of The Phoenix that she appears on that I have not colored yet. I'm really happy with my design of her since she's my first Big Hero 6 OC that's a villain rather than a good guy or civilian.
