Celebrimbor lived for many years in the same elven realm as Galadriel did and, in her hair, saw such light as had inspired his ill-fated uncle to catch the light of the two trees in the silmarils. Galadriel, in exile from Valinor, mentioned once that she missed the shine of the elfstone, now borne in the heavens as Earendil sailed the skies. Moved by his care for the wise woman, Celebrimbor searched the recesses of his memory and fashioned a copy of his old rival, Enerdihil's crowning achievement. He presented it to the lady, that while she wore it, all things would grow more fair in her presence. If he could preserve the fading memory of Valinor with his craft, he would do so to set a smile on Galadriel's face.
