A 'mash-up' of Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond , and a bit of a 'what-if' she had actually fought back as herself... the fact that she thought a Diamond rebellion would be less impactful says a lot about how the other Diamonds treated her.
If nothing else, she would have had a lot more soldiers, and they would likely have felt more justified, and less hateful, since their actions were technically green-lighted by a Diamond.
Though, I think she wanted the Gems to take charge themselves, and she was afraid that fighting as a Diamond, they would always defer to her decisions. But then, I think she ended up in that situation anyway, judging by how the Crystal Gems acted around her.

From the articles, a lot of people insisted that she was faking ... but even so, she was clearly trying to send a message of 'stop, this is how I feel about your words', so there really is no excuse.

Hm, yeah. It's a general problem today; that many people feel that current popular ideas are 'enlightened', and so, everyone who doesn't agree, or simply isn't into the lingo or takes it as religiously seriously as you're supposed to, must be [insert word for a extremely derogatively discriminating person], and is an enemy to be hunted at every turn.
It is ironic, because when did hate ever change anyone's mind?
Also, the people insisting that Rose is overweight are projecting. Her body is made of light, it does not have 'flappy' parts despite her size, and Gems of her type are supposed to be warriors (with Jasper being described as perfect, and she has a similar build to Rose), so it's likely her size is due to the Gem-Light equivalent of *muscles*, and not fat. Besides, it's not fitting to feel that Rose represents overweight humans, as Rose could be a giant mountain of Gem-lard all she wanted, and she would still be able to move and function without effect on her health. An overweight human does not work the same way.

Yeah, so maybe I understand why she decided to fight as Rose; because she truly wanted them to make decisions for themselves. When that didn't seem to happen, she told Greg about how Gems never change, and eventually created Steven as a last ditch effort... which is probably the saddest thing about her death, because she was wrong; as Steven said (In three Gems and a baby, I think?) "but you're changing all the time!'.
I think she just needed a different perspective. For example, Pearl was only remaining obsessively loyal because she loved Rose and everything she stood for. Maybe that got a bit in the way of her thinking about how she felt about Earth, but still - she had changed, Rose just couldn't see it.

You're right. It gets harder and harder to believe that Rose\Pink just wanted to have a baby for the sake of having one.

Agreed. Not because she was Pearl's Diamond.
I guess its also about keeping the big secret. Look at the upset that happened in the show. I don't know if Pink could have fixed that.
