Gallery // Favourites

Although it's quite likely that you've already heard of it, I'd like to recommend a very-creative artistic software: Alchemy  . As their developers define, Alchemy isn't a program that you would use to create a finished artwork, but a mean to trigger your creativity. You can brainstorm a lot of ideas in a matter of minutes and the program itself is so interesting and entertaining to use that you feel like you're playing with it. Besides, it's amazing how random shapes and lines can make your brain generate ideas and get inspiration for a new artwork.

Not to mention another appealing feature of this must-have software:

For quite some months (almost an year), I was victim of a creative block. That is, I couldn't get any kind of ideas that inspired me to draw something that made me want to properly finish the whole artwork. Inactivity of my dA account is an evidence of it. But Alchemy saved me from the creativity void.

I guess that the main reason of my artblock was the fact that I realized that my gallery was full of the same things. I was repeating myself continuously and progressing slowly. So as soon as I discovered this program, I gave it a try. After playing with it a couple of times, I got this:

Pretty chaotic, huh? Although you can use colours, I really need to practice values, so I'd decided to use black, white and greys. In addition, I decided to set the bar higher and paint in one layer. Why? Because I wanted to free my brain. I didn't want to think if proportions were perfect or if lighting made sense; I just wanted to experiment brushes, ways of painting and abandoning reason and perfectionism. That's why the final product might look unfinished or not polished enough. However, I like this artwork because it's different from anything that I've done so far and I enjoyed every minute of its creation.

Here is the finished piece:

So even if you're not in the middle of an artblock, I recommend trying Alchemy. You might get amazing ideas for it's a program that encourages imagination and creativity like no other!

Yea, lately I haven't been on Skype much
The song you're looking for might be this one youtu.be/51KnBVw_2Ew There is a couple of songs that remind me of Jet and Sammy, but that one is the only one with a duet, I think.
you better don't use that song for another ship of any kind or else I'm gonna find you and I'm gonna kill you

Hi thereeee Ainuuuuu, Firs off I amhappy to see and read that you find a little bit ofway out of the art block. I haven't talked about it in public yet but i think i may have experienced the same thing as you for a very long period now and somehow everytime i pick up my pencil and an empty sheet of paper i just don't feel to draw, i dont get this inspirational fire of something i want to draw and since you seem to have had a similiar problem i would like to pick your advice and try out this alchemist (also the name sounds very badass xDD)

I really hope to see more again of your art in the future^^ especially new things! i amlooking forward to see whatever drawing yu create cause ilike your artwork and i like you as a person and am very glad to see you have found back inspiration. The drawing looks very pretty! to be honest when i saw the 'chaos' i had been 'seeing'that very dress you drew then inside it too xDD its very impressive how such a mix of lines, curves and patterns can cause our mind to produce things

I wish you teh best of lucks

Hey Dusty! It's always a pleasure to find your comments in my inbox (:
I think that getting rid of an artblock is one of the most difficult things in art. But it also has its bright side: it means that you're about to make a huge step up in the stairs of progress. There is a very interesting video where an experienced artist talks about what an artblock means. Here is the link: youtu.be/Qb0g_gWrNf8 . Perhaps 17 minutes seems like a lot of time, but every single minute is worth of attention.
The real effort, in my opinion, is needed to get over frustration and never stop drawing. For example, even if I didn't paint any artwork for months, I kept on drawing so I wouldn't lose practice: poses from reference pictures or live model classes, doodles, simple portraits, etc. The important thing is to keep on drawing, it doesn't matter if it's just a sketch, a doodle, a hand or a leg. And then I think that, eventually, if you persevere, you find the way to punch the artblock in the face. At least that's how I dealt with this recent artblock.
Thank you very much for your kind words and for your encouragement. I sincerely hope that Alchemy or any other thing helps you to get rid of that artblock, because I really miss your art!
