Wow! That must have been a serious work. The shadows also made frame by frame I guess and not some automatic function?

Yup, all the color including the shading is done frame by frame. And yeah it was some serious work, there's a reason a lot of the more detailed animations use flat colors lol. But man it's so worth it just to push for that extra detail!
