Description Israel has had to fight for its survival since before it was established as a country. This is my OC, Yehuda, with all his scars and bruises from the wars and beatings he has received over the years. The Star of David is a scar carved into him by Germany sometime during the 1930's-1945. This is a little quirk by me, just as a symbol and signature look.

Wars include the following:
1948 Arab–Israeli War
Retribution operations
Suez Crisis
Six-Day War
War of Attrition
Yom Kippur War
1978 South Lebanon conflict
1982 Lebanon War
South Lebanon conflict
First Intifada
Second Intifada
2006 Lebanon War
Gaza War

Persecution:
Seleucid Empire
"Christian" Antisemitism
Muslim and Arab Antisemitism
Holocaust
Antisemitism in the Soviet Union
Antisemitism in the Russian Empire

Hebrews very like to consider themselves as victims, but actually they are wild animals whoΒ dreaming to sink their teeth into the throat of a white man

Seems to me that Israel tends to be a strong country, and so is hero country as well. I respect the other countries as well. I've been to Israel and the country is completely breath taking, let me tell you.

Holy cow.

It's true, actually - Israel, supposedly the Jews as a whole too, has been through so SO much pain. From persecution over the years and wars against Arabs, Israel had somehow still survived. Not being anti-Arabic, but like the USA, Britain and even Russia/USSR, Israel is truly a hero country. X)

I gotta fave this. Israel is my favourite country, besides Brazil, Russia and Japan.Β
All four for life XD <3

can't we all say, both of them have scars, and both need to take a chill pill. Both are at fault here and all we can do is if they can get along. I would also picture them(if ever really introduced into Hetalia) that they'd be in a forced marriage can't get along, and fight over who gets which side of the bed.

Wow... I knew Israel had gone through some stuff, but I didn't know it was so bad... T^T

I had been reading TIME Magazine's lately, so I know they're fighting now...

Your OC is adorable!

I like this portrayal of Israel, though I agree a more determined expression would be good too, like even after thousands of years he's still not beaten. I can almost hear the song "Close Every Door To Me" playing!

Thank you so much! I'm redrawing this and defining the scars more. I have a soundtrack for almost every piece of art I do. This one happened to just be "Hatikva" the Israeli national anthem. I'll listen to "Close Every Door To Me" though. : ) I'm always up for new songs.

I can here "A Million Stars" which is a lovely song dedicated to a soldier who died in the second Lebanon war, sung by his sister. [link]
I can understand hearing Hatikva though

I was actually listening to Hatikva when I was drawing this, but I'll listen to the song you linked to!
I'm always looking for music when I draw, and since I'm redrawing I need more music to listen to for inspiration.

have you heard of Idan Raichel? listen to his music, it's really cool. Bo'ee is a good one. if you dont know: he gets musicians from all over the middle east and performs with them, it's a whole project.

shouldnt he have a number and not a star? just saying. I really love it but I feel like if you mention the holocaust he needs a faded number tattoo.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aira09 In reply to Tuiteyfruity [2011-12-16 05:59:33 +0000 UTC]

I mainly picked a star because the Jews had to wear Star of David cuffs on their clothes in the ghettos... also for sake of consistency I'm re-doing this and a Star of David is easier that numbers.

I like the idea of this work. But I don't think it's pass the right message. It's seems like Yehuda has so many scars that he going to fall in any minute.
I am think you can improve your work by doing less scars but make them look bigger. As well you should open his eyes and give him a determinedly look.
This work is beautiful like that also, I am just saying how I would do it.

As I have posted on this deviation to another deviant, that land is Israel, and they are not like the British in India, or the the Belgium in the Congos. They are not like the Americans who took the land from the Native Americans. They are not foreign occupiers.

Don't get me wrong, Zionism was a beautiful idea, the Jews returning to a land promised to them by God. Israel is also beautiful. But when you say Israel is not like the Americans taking land from the Natives, or Belgium in the Congos that is where you're wrong. If you actually do your research you will find that the first Jews in Palestine (what is now Israel) were just settlers who set up homes and farms just like the European settlers had in America (Anowarkowa or Ina Maka) before taking more land from the Natives until it had narrowed been down to reserves. The same thing happened with Israel and they still continue to take land from the Arabs and destroy their homes to do so, claiming it as their own land. I love Israel and cannot blame them for expanding more because it is only for the good of their self defense, but "They are not foreign occupiers", this statement is wrong.Β

What about Ancient Israel? Jews have been in that land for centuries. The first Jewish temple was built in Jerusalem by Solomon - which was destroyed and then rebuilt.Β

In war it's necessary. There were plans to attack a Jewish state, if it ever was declared, by the Syrians. The Palestinians refuse to accept a Jewish state along with a Palestinian state. Israel fights to defend itself.

I wouldn't accept a state on what used to be my home either

The land was Israel's for thousands of years, even the Qur'an recognizes that the land belongs to Israel. The Prim Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is prepared to make generous compromises to make a Palestinian state, however the Palestinians are not willing to negotiate. Israel wants to live in peace.

then they should stop forcing Arab families out of homes they've lived in for generations so that Jewish families can take them over.

Arabs live among Israelis. Israel offered to let the Palestinians move to another Arab nation and the other nations refused to take them. The Palestinians were willing to go, but the other Arab nations are using them as pawns against Israel. The other Arab nations think that the Palestinians are filth.

Thank you, I just finished watching the "Against All Odds" documentary. It had stories such as those of Shula Cohen, an Israeli spy, and Sarah Davidson, who was a hostage in Uganda.
