I think that paper is very emotional, I'd like to draw more pictures involving them.

I am also fond of drawing intricate machinery ( trishaws! ) and buildings, but I am never very good at them, so I need to reference heavily for such things.

I recently broke my tablet virginity and I wanted to get used to it, so I set out to draw something entirely with the tablet.

I must admit I think it is harder for me to use a tablet as opposed to traditional mediums....

Thanks for looking!

I hope this is good enough for an art book...

Lovin the time period it seems to be drawn in... Seems to me like they're a mischievious pair spreading something (in my mind, those pink pages are covered with funny stuffs!!!)... probably joy and laughter all around while someone watches them pass with probably with something like 'ah, young people are just sooo... young...'

Thank you so much <3 I like drawing stuff like that, with a lot of feeling and meaning. Ohhhh the pink pages are love letters, written with lots of cheesy poems XD The trishaw driver is in love with the Japanese student, and he wrote him all these

Holy- wow! So incredible! I love love love the paper- that must've taken forever!-, the bike carriage, the town buildings, pretty much everything going on here! I also admire how you still keep your unique, textured style even in digital medium.

Hey, thanks so much for your lovely comment, apologies for this late reply, haha. Oh, the paper! I had another commenter who thought I drew it one by one- I did not actually ! Kinda cheated a little, haha. Well I drew ten sets of flying paper in various positions- and then I simply multiplied and resized them to create the illusion of lots and lots of papers. :>
I am not as patient as I hope to be, haha XD

Your colours are so genius *_* love how you contrast those bright colors with black! And it's great how you got the papers and the trishaw which are more flowy/curved against the really geometric shapes of the buildings at the back (I don't think I'm even making sense - I just love this pic! *_*

I'm the opposite of you - I went from digital to traditional .. and I found it quite hard to adjust as well. Still wish there's an undo button somewhere when I'm watercoloring XD

aw, thank you so much for your nice comment! Black is awesome with ANY colour, so I like using it a lot
Thank you, that was my intention actually, to contrast solid, hard shapes with something a bit softer/more flowy I get exactly what you mean !

Haha watercolouring! I agree, I wish we could undo even though I started with traditional, lol!

It gets easier. I just uh... let's see, a couple months ago got mostly-comfortable drawing with a tablet, rather than scanning the lineart in. I am a traditional artist at heart, but I really wanted to learn digital - to me, it seems like the world is a lot more wide open, in terms of what you can do with a digital piece. It's easier to make the picture come out how I want it, due to the plethora of brushes, patterns, etc available for digital pieces.

This is definitely art book worthy. I don't think I've ever seen you do something that wasn't, silly. You're the picturesque humble artist, darling. C:

I think the best part of this piece is how the eye has to focus on the red/black, since the rest of this is so bright and cheerful. I also almost did not see the third character OTL

Lovely as always! ♥

haha, thank you so much for your nice comment! I know what you mean; personally I view the digital medium as an "enhancer" of the traditional mediuM, I don't think I'll ever be able to completely separate the two. I agree with what you say, knowing how to use it means a whole new world out there!

awh, thank you! I think I;m starting to see a lot more anatomical and composition flaws in my work lately, so I'm always second guessing myself.. OTL

Thank you so much! I think black is one of the colours you can never go wrong with

If it's any comfort, I'm still struggling with my tablet after dunno-how-many years. They say it's easier to use it for sketching and colouring instead of drawing.

I LOVE the colour scheme of this piece. Really don't know where you find the patience to fill in all the pieces of paper. Strong artwork.

prawn buddyyy : D
Thanks so much for the nice compliment I think that it's a matter of getting used to; I'm trying not to think of it as a high tech scary gadget, but a multi-purpose regular pen, if anything. But I admit that nothing beats using my good ol ArtLiner pen XD

Oh about the pieces of paper- I don't have the patience, so I didn't fill in all the pieces single handedly. XD

What I do is draw a bunch of flying papers in various poses ( ie; ten ) colour them individually, and then CTRL+J to multiply them into various layers.

After that it's a matter of Edit>Free Transform to resize and arrange them. If you hit ctrl and hold it down, you can change the perspective of the papers by dragging/toggling at any of the corner angles, so that helps too, to make the flying papers appear flat.

i love everything of this awesome piece - it's so detailed with beautiful colors, the contrast emphasizes their brightness and does composition more intensive and interesting. also the wheels and flying paper give dynamism here. amazingly done! <333

Wow, this is stellar. You may not have confidence in drawing buildings, but I enjoy the cutout look to them, they've very solid. And good lord, the wheels. I lost it at those wheels. I can honestly see them spinning. Everything in this picture just breathes life.
