Description Hello!

If you follow this page you may have noticed I'm not uploading content as often as I was before; part of the reason is that my Graphic Design work takes most of my time these days, but the true reason is that I've been working on these commissioned Scientific sculpture projects, and most of my free time goes into making them. Not that I am complaining, though! I absolutely love working on these buggers, from the research part, all the way into the modelling, and detailing... As I have said before, these are the biggest "art" projects that I have ever worked on, and I am super proud that piece by piece I'm getting better at them.

Maratus mungaich  is a species of Peacock spider; Native to Australia, these tiny little critters exhibit notable sexual dimorphism; the male is, as the case for their namesake bird, quite colorful and gaudy, and will dance around the female, displaying his modified Opistosoma with iridescent scales in tones of blue, turquoise and red, and his white-tipped third pair of legs to impress her. you can read a lot more about them here , watch them dance here , or browse this amazing archive  of photographs of several Maratus species.

As always, comments and thoughts are greatly welcome!
