B/Mello is quickly becoming one of my favorite pairings, and I can't stop writing and drawing things related to it. If I have to give justification for why, I would have to say because the two have such a strong link. If I really need to go into it.... Mello spoke of B as his predecessor and the man whose actions influenced him a great deal personally.... implying that he empathizes a great deal with B.They both held similar places in their days at wammy's as the runner-up, the backup, the second-place loser... It's probably why he understands B so well. After all, he ended up following in his footsteps in a way. Plus, Mello has detailed accounts of what B did and thought during the duration of the LABB murders, but simply chooses not to use them because it bores him. Under the circumstances L most likely didn't have these detailed accounts in his case file, so if anything Mello would have had to interview B to get them.... Actually, I have a series of linked drabbles related to the idea. Maybe one day when I have it posted on FF.net I'll put a link up here. That's also what these drawings are based around, which shows why B is in a straitjacket.And as for why B would like Mello....
M is the thirteench letter of the alphabet. B loves thirteens. Nuff said.
I find it so ironic that (SPOILER WARNING! DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE LOS ANGELES BB MURDER CASES NOVEL!) B and Mello both end up burned, both by their own hand in a way and out of desperation, but also a kind of strength. The man who loved thirteens, and the boy who was the thirteenth letter... both terribly unlucky, as if cursed by the number 13, both struggling to come out on top of someone whose abilities will always overshadow their own.... They're truly so alike. That's why I love this pairing.

How I wish to see more of these two... I role play/cosplay Beyond Birthday and my first love and still till this day role plays/cosplays Mello. This makes my heart warm to see pictures of these two.

Naaaaah, no alcohol in it ^^ you can just buy it in a store. It's an energy drink, same as Red Bull or others like that. I have to drink it a lot because I'm old and in college, so therefore have to stay up late a lot of nights working on art XD
Heee, good luck writing more B/Mello! I'd like to write more too.... I don't have any up here, and I really miss writing the boys. I just never have time to write anymore

Art? I'm in Art 1. So I kind of get where your at. School really takes up most of the day, so really sucks some times.
And yeah, I writen some B and Mello, I just need to type them, but I've been alittle too lazy lately. I sould have one story up soon.

Yeah. We're just starting watercolor and I think it's really cool. But it's gotting be hard!
I'm going on this art trip next month for a compation or something , and I'm really jumped up for it!
I may not go to art college, because I don't think my own art is any good. But, I still have three more years before college does hit. :/ I'm not too jumped for that!
Today I had a really wried idea for a story for B and Mello, rather stange. :/ I normally for thoughts like that at home.

Ha, thank you! I based his eye color more off of the shinigami's eyes themselves, Ryuk and Rem. I don't see why everyone makes them straight red in fanwork and cosplay... if I ever get the money to buy things for cosplay, i think i would rather wear something like these: [link]
And thank you SO MUCH. You have no idea how much I'm opposed to the idea that BB is nothing more than a raving lunatic covered in blood. I don't think he's perfectly sane, either, and I DO like playing with crazy!b sometimes, but there's MORE to him than that.
I looked at your cosplay! You two are adorable! My girlfriend and I cosplay B and Mello too- although all the pictures we have up now are L/mello since I was being lazy that day.. X3

I think people make them red just because they like how evil/crazy/violent it looks.

Even in the scene with him laughing crazily, he was doing it deliberately, like a fake face...I tend to think of him as a sociopath who likes manipulating people rather than a jittering unstable psychopath. Of course I'm not opposed to multiple different interpretations of him...but I don't like everybody reducing him to a cardboard cutout of "murders everything in sight and eats jam constantly".

They do look more evil and maniacal red.... just... >W< i always like unusual character interpretations. I always thought of B as being a little like a mix of Ryuk, L and Mello- and the ryuk-ness in him carried over into his eyes in my ideas...
They're non-prescription as far as I know X3 that's why I have trouble with cosplay, too. my eyes are bad so i usually have to wear glasses too. I can take them off for most things, but if I'm going to read anything far away or see things at a distance I need them... I should go ahead and get prescription contacts but I don't have the money. I DO think that if you talk to your optometerist, though, you can get colored contacts on prescription. If not, the glasses would be a great prop for Mikami! He's one of the few DN characters where it's okay to wear your glasses as part of the costume...
Likewise! B has a really goofy sense of humor, really... he's a cutie.... a little creepy, yes, but really cute too... a total otaku... that, and I always saw him poking fun at everyone around him. Obviously a lot of his actions were very directly making fun of L, exxaggerating all of L's qualities. He made a lot of fun of Misora, too, though it was subtle...
And yeah, i think he's more of a sociopath than anything. I think he's obsessive and can be DRIVEN to things, and he has a problem with attention and his self-esteem... i think he tried to MAKE himself crazy, and he wanted to be percieved as a psychopathic murder... just as he said at one point that killing Quarter Queen was just to make the killer seem like a psychopath. Playing with all the different sides of him is entertaining... it's nice to have multiple character interpretations for one person, just not the same cutout for everything.. I agree wholeheartedly
Awwww thank you so much!!! We try... hehe, we're not the best cosplayers ever, but we're both still pretty new to cosplay so we have time to grow. And I love L/Mello tooooo! I've loved it for ages... i think it's a great pairing, there's such a sweet interpretation of respect and such there... X3

Yes the pairing is EPIC! What is the FF link? I'm constantly in search of good BB fics. I hate how few people know about him! It limits the fandom by a LOT. He's just too epic to have such a small fandom! >:[

I know what you mean, there's just not enough good B fiction out there.... He's an incredibly epic character, and he gets so limited and so marginalized into a few stereotypes.... His fandom HAS been expanding, at least on FF.net, lately, but it's been expanding in the wrong direction... I've even seen him with Mary Sue fics.... UGH. I can't stand them. I'm not sure if I'd rather him have a small fanbase of a few good fans or a huge amount of bleh ones...
But anyways!!! Thank you so much for the comments and faves and such ^^ they made me really happy. And I'm glad you like the pairing! More and more it's become one of my favorites. There isn't much B/Mello out there, but what there is has been incredibly good. I hope you enjoy the fic and thanks for commenting the drawing!!!!

he has his own book and knows it the egotistical jerk. plus he almost beat L on his own, While Light did he had help. BB was the true greatest criminal of all.
