Description

I haven't drawn these two guys before and maybe there are some Raccoons fans who'd like to see them in my style, so there you go! Β

Schaeffer and Broo are far less popular characters in the show than the other ones. Schaeffer is probably even more obscure than Broo, who is a cute puppy and you can usually seen him with Bert, so that makes sense why he appears on the screen more than his older friend (When I was a kid I thought that Broo is Schaeffer's son Well, they look alike ). I tried to remake Broo's design a little bit to make it more adorable than it is in the show... Hope you like it anyway.

Schaeffer and Broo are odd characters-I feel like Schaeffer in particular never got much of a fair shake in the spotlight after the specials/Season 1 and the humans went away. We don't even know where he lives now that there are no humans. I can't imagine he actually lives in the Blue Spruce Cafe! He's a nice guy and I do wish he had shown up a bit more often, maybe after the humans were dropped they couldn't think of much to do with him. Broo is cute but yeah, I doubt he's Schaeffer's son! If he were he'd be able to talk and walk on all fours, I'm pretty sure. He's a helpful little puppy although it's hard to forget how close Bentley came to getting him killed in outer space in one of the last episodes of the series!

Also, I do wanna talk about the specials and season 1...I think I've mentioned this before, but they're kind of weird compared to the rest of the series. (Of course I already said I've never fully gotten the humans' role in the show and I don't think the writers knew what they were doing with them either, because they were gone by the end of Season 1). But in particular, The Lost Star is a very odd special. Fun and entertaining, but virtually unlike anything else in the entire series. This certainly shows a totally different direction the Raccoons could've taken; it could've been a sci-fi-themed furry series on another planet with the gang fighting against the Imperial Commander Cyril Sneer! While that would be interesting, I don't think that would've been the best direction the show could've taken and I'm glad they went the way they did. Also, I've heard that The Lost Star special was actually originally conceived as a feature-length movie to be released theatrically! This has apparently been said by some of the staff that worked on it, but apparently they didn't have enough money plus they were struggling with ideas to make it feature-length so it ended up becoming the hour long special it is instead. I thought some parts of it felt more cinematic than the rest of the series

Sorry for that But it's nice to see these undervalued (well, Schaeffer is undervalued in particular-I'm not even sure if he'll be part of the reboot!) characters from the series

From 'The Raccoons and the Lost Star' special, it's established that everyone Schaffer knows from the Evergreen Forest has a 'double', in Schaffer's dreamworld. This 'everyone' includes Schaffer himself, in the form of Broo.

Near the end of the special, Schaffer wishes he could see everyone again, in the 'real world' ...and after the dream, Schaffer wakes up to a new puppy (Broo) who Ranger Dan bought for Tommy and Julie.

The narrator says Schaffer's wish came true, hence Broo is Schaffer's double; Broo is Schaffer.

Awesome work. There is some speculation that Broo might be Schaeffer's son, but that's unlikely. Broo and Snag alike are portrayed as dogs, hence the reason they don't talk and are looked after like real dogs. Much like how Disney created Pluto, who's also portrayed as a dog. Goofy is a dog too, but like Schaeffer, he talks, wears clothes, drives a car and works.

Thanks. I should've also mentioned that if Broo was Schaeffer's son, then he would be the same size as Bentley, Bentley's age, walk upright, talk and go to school with him. Would also likely be Bentley's best friend and give him someone to play with and talk too, when Bert and Cedric are too busy.

This isn't a request. I don't do that. Just a suggestion. Maybe that could be one of your future drawings. Broo the way I described him wearing a backpack and walking to school with Bentley.
