Description The hero of my last sketches was Tweety, so this time it has to be his longtime enemy "putty tat" Sylvester. I don't have much to say about him, I've already drawn him several months ago (www.deviantart.com/quelity18/a… ).

I didn't have much trouble coping with his design (which is quite similar to Mr. Jinks' one, at least I came to that conclusion). Oh, and I love drawing his hilarious jerky expressions.

Sylvester is just so pathetic and on the losing end of things so often you just can't help but pity him Seriously, his streak versus Tweety is terribly one-sided in Tweety's favor-I'm not a Looney Tunes expert and thus haven't seen everything Warner Bros. made featuring the characters-has Sylvester ever "won" against Tweety in anything? Off the top of my head I don't think so. Poor guy! He usually fares better when paired up with Porky and against other characters, though...He is quite funny looking with his big red nose that makes him look like a big old clown (actually I remember reading having a "red nose" was supposed to be a cartoony representation of drunkenness, which Sylvester doesn't immediately come to mind for!), and his bad lisping (SUFFERIN' SUCCOTASH!) is also quite funny. Although like Porky, I'm sure there's some people who have lisping problems in real life who find him offensive...I dunno, like Porky I never got the feeling that was supposed to be mean-spirited or insulting towards people with that problem


Nice sketches of Sylvester...Though I like him, I have to be honest-in a fight between him and Tom, I'm completely certain Tom would emerge victorious. Probably because Tom puts up a better fight against his eternal rival and actually SOMETIMES wins against him

You're right. Sylvester is probably one of the most pathetic cats in the whole cartoon history, that makes me feel sorry for him. After all, he's design is cute for me and I must say I kinda like his big red funny nose. And yes, his "slupring" speech, as I call it. Because of it and because I'm not a native English speaker I can hardly understand what he says. But this all together makes him a great comical character. Before I got into Pepe shorts, Sylvester used to be my number one favorite LT character.

Gosh, I can't tell if I like Sylvester more than Tom or Tom more than Sylvester. For me it's too difficult to decide. I guess I am (I always was)Β more familiar with Tom and Jerry than with Sylvester and Tweety. After all, I used to draw many cartoon characters under the influence of Tom and Jerry art style. And as far as I remember I liked them better than Sylvester and Tweety as a kid. I think I like Tom and Sylvester equally.
