This is beautiful!
I like the overall simplicity and the ambiguity of the story, something not all artists can achieve.
I really love the colours. I won't lie.
I saw this and I loved it from the start. It's eye-catching, and it's very sweet looking (if that makes sense.)
Your anatomy is well done too, and you're good with backgrounds. Overall, this piece is lovely.
I'd love to see more things like this, not just from you, but just around. Not a lot of people do that with the colours.
Thanks for reading.

i read some of your writing work, as well!
it's intriguing in its own right -
keep that up, as well ^v^

I love the colors you have with this. I've tried doing cool color gradients like this but I haven't figured out the secrete yet!
Any tips? The drawing though shows that you're very talented. The people in the background, the chair, the table are all very realistic.
I'm not sure if it goes well with the Anime styled face and the cartoony cup. Maybe try experimenting more with blending the two style together?
In my comic I have these squirrels that are very undetailed. I noticed they looked out of place so I made my style more...cute and colorful despite the dark nature of the comic.
It's weird but changing my style to fit the squirrels sort of made a unintentional metaphor for my comic. That things aren't always as they seem.

hi! with the colour gradient: if you have any software with capabilities resembling paint.NETΒ (which is what i use to edit photos, is free, and which i'd say rivals photoshop in the number of things you can do in terms of photo-editing - though photoshop would probably be much better for art, overall!), using the "layers" such softwares provide and their various layer-related functions is really useful in executing such effects. all i did here was make a new layer on which i placed a single pink-to-blue colour gradient, and then i tweaked its blend mode and opacity until i got the look i wanted.
if that doesn't make sense and/or you're willing to read through a more in-depth explanation,
here's a link on how it works in photoshop - hope that proves useful!
i'm also learning how to do more realistic-looking faces and get the basics of anatomy down - once i'm done with that (or perhaps while i'm doing so!), perhaps i'll be able to find a style somewhere between that and cartoony, which is to my liking. :]

I use SAI, there's some ways to get a similar effect but it never really turns out the way I want it to.
I'll try mixing different layers together. Thanks a lot ^^
Oh coolio, most people movie to more cartoony not realistic.
Well good luck to you good sir! I'd like to see more from you.

Hello from ProjectComment !
First off, Iβd like to say that I really enjoy the mood of the piece. Itβs a very relatable scene for me in that I have many times say drinking coffee and looked out at the street and the people wandering up and down it. Iβve mostly done this while it was raining out, but I imagine itβs quite similar in a wintry moment like this one.
I really enjoy the composition and how weβre able to get a sense of what itβs like both in the cafe and out in the street, and the minimal detail in the street scene really helps give the sense that itβs separated by space and the reflective glass from the subject and viewer.
The choice of color that you added is very interesting. I like that you have a shift from the bottom of the chair up to the window because the warm pink emphasizes the light coming in the window and enveloping the subject.
A few people have mentioned the subjectβs posture, and especially user arm and hand. One thing I would like to add to that is that you can add a lot of information through how the subject is posed. For example, instead of having the hand resting on the table, she could be warming herself by holding the coffee with both hands, or she could be playing with her hair as she quietly watches the street. She could be sitting up to drink the coffee or lounging back against the chair relaxing. Adding this kind of detail helps make the subject feel more human and communicates more about what theyβre thinking and feeling to the viewer.
For technical execution, I would recommend sketching out the scene with very hard, light, sharp pencils (4H for example) and, when you have it worked out the way you want, go back over with sharp softer pencils in the foreground, then add your shading on top of that. That way you can work out some of these tricky details first and still get strong, clear lines in the final image.
Keep up the good work!

this is strange, but you made me realise i've not used anything other than an hb pencil for a long time.
somehow i never thought of doing so... i'll take your advice on board, when next i go pencilling :z
thanks for the tips on posing. i didn't think of these when i was drawing this at all :v
hopefully i'll be able to implement that in future.
also, you have such amazingly realistic art on your dA page!!Β ;A;Β
this doesn't do your work justice, but keep up the good work on your front as well. ^v^
hopefully i'll get there someday

I like this. It is pretty and sketchy and filled with a gorgeous color palette!Β Β
The overall concept is beautiful with the winter-ish colors complementing the scene. The girl is drinking some hot coffee and the smokey strokes above the cup is too good to be true. The table and the plush chair are adding points to the positive aspects of this piece and the way the model is looking out with a small smile is too sweet. The little design below the table is creative and adds more elegance to the end-result.Β Β
Having said that, I do feel a few revisions can help polish this drawing! For example, the entire posture of the figure isn't quite proportional and that makes it look a bit unrealistic. Her legs are too straight for being seated on a chair and her back is a bit erect making her look like she's almost going to stand up to greet someone. Basically, she doesn't look relaxed and we're opting for a chill aura for the piece so few small changes can prove beneficial.Β Β
Firstly, her back can be pushed back to make her rest on the chair comfortably. A few creases can be added to show a slouched chest or stomach and maybe slightly slumped shoulders. Moving on to her legs, by pushing her back, her bottom will also get shifted farther behind. This would send the upper par of her thighs onto the chair too, leaving half of her thighs over the chair. Now, the thighs can be straight to show her laidback seating arrangement and a after a curve that would indicate the bending of the knee, her lower legs can be drawn. They can either be one leg over the other or a easy leg posture. Another thing that can be worked upon is the hand kept on the table. The fingers need a little more work but nothing too incorrect or evident. Just giving my two cents!Β Β
All in all, I love the vibes that this art work gives me and am looking forward to seeing more of this! Β All the best for your future pieces

I'm from the but the only thing that seems to be wrong is the arm, it seems like it's in an unnatural position and it's kinda short, but other than that the picture is PERFECT πππ
