"Pixies are little playful tricksters from Cornwall in England, where they are known as piskies. Pixies love to play tricks, such as stealing ponies at night and returning them the next morning with their manes twisted and knotted. Another trick pixies like to play is leading travelers astray in unfamiliar territory. This is called being "pixie-led".
