Unfortunately I couldn't get much closer, been a great opportunity if I could have though.

Not had much luck with these getting the pics I'd like:
One flew in low out of nowhere not too long ago and landed in a dead tree with nothing between us but air...at a mere 25ft away. I was photographing woodpeckers in the same tree that abruptly flew off before I knew why... and then saw the hawk just before it landed. I was backing off the zoom a bit and it took flight again just as fast and I never even got a pic.

Before that one, I walked right under another in a pine tree before I knew it was there, got a few pics and was going to share one in this post but I don't have the ability to without CORE.

Photographing wildlife is a lot like fishing sometimes, the ones you hook but don't catch can be mighty haunting! LOL.
