I have the same problem at the theater but I always manage to hiede my food, soda, candies, chocolate, etc, that's why I always wear long coats when I go to the movies
It's just that the ones in their store are too expensive

I do that all the time in movie theaters, s'cheaper. Though I don't like bendy straws and tend to drink straight from it.
