Description
I show you today Lugia, the Lord of the Seas.
Lugia is not directly inspired by a creature from Japanese folklore, especially in terms of design, but its concept is quite close to Ryūjin 龍神, the god of the sea in Japanese mythology. Gyarados is clearly more inspired by Ryūjin 龍神 than Lugia, but it seemed relevant to mention it!
I thought about the composition of this illustration to be in parallel with the one previously made for Ho-Oh. Thus, we have several elements put in opposition between the two: day/night, sun/moon, earth/sea, concepts which already oppose these two Pokémon in the lore!
