Wow, you're an amazing Suiseiseki - that's a great "live-action translation" of her anime design to the real world. Can you pull off a voice similar to hers as well?

Well, her high-pitched, thin, almost squealing voice is certainly very difficult to do. I wonder if her dub voice is a little easier to mimic? No matter, you look a lot like how a "live-action" Suiseiseki should!

Were you able to find a chibi-human to torment, desu?

to copy voice is too difficult, but we have the same mimic XD and i had it before this cosplay

Nope, but i have a beautiful sister :3

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-12 23:35:00 +0000 UTC]

That's certainly true... it's really hard to get Suiseiseki's voice down. On the other hand, the official English dub is now released. While the English voice for Suiseiseki is very different from her now legendary Japanese voice, I think it's also a good deal easier to imitate. If you get the voice down, all you'll have to do is add the "~desu" back in and you're good to go!

Suiseiseki is my favorite Rozen Maiden, but because you need contacts for her mismatched eyes and because her outfit is so darn complicated, she must be very hard to cosplay, especially if you're going to try to act like her, too. It's too bad you weren't able to find a Jun, but were you able to make your sister cosplay Souseiseki ~desu?

Akai-Ritsuka In reply to galaxy1701d [2010-12-12 23:48:30 +0000 UTC]

Japaneese voice is criticaly different from european

I cant say, that cosplaying her was so hard
Also, my sister already cosplayed Sousei, but we didnt have photoes together and never will

It's great that your sister was able to cosplay as the other "Seki Twin." But it's too bad that you guys didn't get to have pictures taken. May I ask what happened - did she lose the costume or something?

Aww, that sucks. Is she older or younger than you are? It sounds like at least one of the two of you grew up and moved out. Also, it's too bad that you don't have that beautiful costume anymore; did you give it away or sell it? It's really well done; I wonder if you purchased it or made it yourself ~desu?

She a little bit elder than me

I didnt sewed a cosplay by myself, i dont have enough skills for it
In my cosplays i do all the weapons and accesorize. Also shoes and sometimes wigs styling

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-13 02:10:11 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. Suiseiseki-chan's costume would be particularly difficult! It's rather amusing that your sister is a little older than you, but she cosplayed as Souseiseki, who is the younger of the "Seki Twins." Still, though, being able to create weapons and accessories and other props is a neat skill to have, too. You did a great job on the watering can, for example.

By the way, your profile says you live in Russia. Your English is quite good, though. ^_^

Akai-Ritsuka In reply to galaxy1701d [2010-12-13 02:20:59 +0000 UTC]

Not really. Now i make a costume rather more difficult, than Suiseiseki's

Thanks. I spend a lot of time, making it. But anyway, i could better

Im glad to hear that.
Did you thought, russians know english language badly? x3

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-13 02:28:45 +0000 UTC]

I see. What costume are you attempting now? I think you can actually learn a good deal from making outfits like Suiseiseki's and Souseiseki's because they're based on "period pieces" from certain times in European history. Learning to make clothes like theirs could come in handy for other projects, I'd say.

No matter what, you did a great job and I can see a lot of effort went into the can - it definitely doesn't look like a cheap prop or something that was just thrown together for a convention. If you ever feel like making an improved version, I'm sure it would look awesome.

Nope, I didn't think Russians wouldn't know how to speak or write in English. One of my best friends is a Russian (born in St. Petersburg/Volgograd if I remember right), and when I did my undergraduate college work at U.C. Berkeley, many of my classmates were Russians and they were almost always among the top students in the class, especially in math and science.

I've heard that your country has an excellent education system, so I'm not surprised that they'd teach you to use English because the language has grown very common. I also know a lot of other people from Europe, places like Germany and France, and their English is also impressive. Sometimes, I could swear they speak English better than a number of Americans do. >_<;

But for what i need to do another one?
I wouldnt cosplay this character anymore

Heh, Im from St.Petersburg too.
And i learn English since i was in kindergarten. Our education system is very high, but also very difficult. I study in university on graphic disigner and i didnt slept all night long, because its finals soon and i still have a lot works to draw XD
its 5:35 in Russia now

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-13 03:27:33 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. No fun playing the same character twice, right? Of all the cosplays that you've done, do you have a favorite one? Or is there anybody you haven't cosplayed yet that you really want to do?

I was figuring that they would start teaching you English from when you were that young. It would explain why so many Europeans know English so well, since it takes a lot of time and study to become that fluent.

Graphic design is a fun major - I know a number of friends who are going down that route, and I'm terribly sorry that you haven't slept. If it's any consolation, it's finals week here where I am, too, and I only managed to get some sleep for the last 2 nights.

I'm not about to get much sleep tonight, either. I have one more paper to write and I've only just started thinking about what to write about. I'm determined to get this confounded thing done by tomorrow, so I guess you won't be the only one who isn't sleeping well.

Good luck! It's 10:26PM in South Carolina, USA right now ~desu.

Like that, yes
My favorite cosplay is a Badou Nails from DOGS. And cosplay, which i make now is my favorite character too. Probably ill make a lot of his costumes (and he has a lot of them). And i have a loooot of cosplays i want to make

English is like my native language. Im just have some problems with grammar and tenses, so i worry about it. English became a international language, so its rather comfortable to know it.

I just was too lazy for last 3 months and i must draw a lot of everything for next 2 weeks XD im a lazy ass and spend all time for PS games

Good luck you too :3

Hi there. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get back to you until now (it's Christmas Eve. Hooray!), but I've been busy finishing up finals, heading home (I live on the other side of the country, in California, so I had a six-hour plane flight back) and getting ready for Christmas.

Thank you for wishing me luck, it worked out fine. I ended up getting three A's for a 4.0, the first time I got a 4.0 in ages. I'm very grateful for it, but I also didn't get a lot of sleep and I'm exhausted. However, part of me is still looking forward to going back to school in two weeks.

Badou Nails, huh? I don't know anything about DOGS, but after you mentioned him I went and did a Google Image Search. Thankfully it doesn't seem like his costumes are ridiculously "out there" the way some anime costumes in more science fiction or fantasy-oriented shows can be. What exactly is DOGS about?

Ah, I see. If you've learned English so well that it's become like a native language, I'm not surprised that you're so good at it. Grammar and tenses can be very different between languages, so you probably shouldn't worry too much - as you talk to more people in predominantly English-speaking countries, I'm sure you'll observe the way we talk/write and pick it up very quick. ^_^

I wonder why the Hell it was English that became such an "international language," but I guess you are right, it has been starting to do so. I would certainly agree that having more and more people across the world learn one language in addition to any others that they know does help to make everyone's lives a little easier ~desu.

You must have enough cosplays on your wish list to keep yourself busy for a long time to come, nyet? ^_^

we dont celebrate chatolic Christmas, so i still have exams in university

Dogs isreally good-drawed manga in action style. You can read short story in internet, sorry, im really busy now

I use grammar as i hear it, intuitivity. English tenses have no analogs in russian language, because we have only 3 of them. Past, Present and Future. In really, i play games on engleish too much and read manga-translates, this reason i know english.

Yeah, i have. I finishing one right now. :3

Ah, I see. You guys celebrate Christmas a good deal later than we do - I guess it means that your exams end later, and that you get out later. Hopefully, at least your break is still as long as ours are. Are you looking forward to the new year?

I'm sure you'll do great. Ace those things! ^_^

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-25 01:01:02 +0000 UTC]

That really is a weird system! Actually, I wonder if ours is too lenient. My exams ended on December 14th, and I went home on the 17th. I don't think school starts until the 10th, so I've got about 3 weeks free. It makes me wonder if part of the reason kids in other countries like Russia do so much better than American students is because they seem to be in school more days of the year... @_@;

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-25 07:30:52 +0000 UTC]

Ah. Let's see. I was 18 when I finished grade school. In America, this level is called "high school" or "secondary school." I then went to college for 4 years at the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated when I was 22 with a major in molecular & cell biology and a minor in music. I am now doing a master's degree program that will take 2 years so I should get my degree when I am 25 (I took a break between college and the master's program). Basically, I'm going to be in school until I'm in my 30s. T_T

o_o wow! so long
We finishing school in 17-18, it depends of year, when you came to school. And after that we dont have commitment to go to the college, or smth like that. We can immediately pass exams to university. And, we finishing university in 22 or 24. It depends of will you go to magistrature or wouldnt.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

galaxy1701d In reply to Akai-Ritsuka [2010-12-25 08:07:15 +0000 UTC]

Wow, I see. It looks like you guys might be able to skip what we call "undergraduate" education and go straight for an advanced degree right off the bat, then. They must really push you hard in primary school for you to be able to qualify for that - I guess I shouldn't be surprised that all the Russian students I ran into at U.C. Berkeley turned out to be geniuses.

Yes, it does take a very long time. I am hoping to find a career in the academic world and to become a professional scientist and lecturer working in universities or research institutes, so that means that I need the highest degree in my field. It'll take a while and it can mean a lot of pressure, but I like doing it and a university campus has come to feel like home to me.

I hope you'll be able to find a job without too much trouble once you finish school! It isn't always that easy over here. >_<;
