Description
A dear friend of mine moved to her own flat last year - and this was my present. While all our other friends were busy rebuilding furniture and tripping over her horrificly narrow stairs, I had her kitchen wall all to myself. A ton of work went into this wallpainting; I only painted what she requested, did tons of research, compositing and scraps. This is the endresult.
You will definitely not know the band which spawned the quote I incorporated in the painting, in German it says "Und falle ich auch brennend dem Meere entgegen, ist Freiheit niemals ein vermessenes Streben" and it translates to "And even if I fall blazing towards the sea, freedom never is an impudent quest." It's from Saltatio Mortis' song Daedalus, their retelling of Daedalus and Icarus.

It's entirely done with wallpaper paint and Acrylics, on very, very rough wallpaper. It was a pain. Pure torture. Made for some really nice texture effects though.
