ahem...this started out as a speed painting.
... it obviously didn't stay that way.
i went on a sasuke kick, so i decided to do some itachi.don't think i have much to say about this one... except... all the paintings i've done lately have been MASSIVE! i'm a layer freak anyway, but i ended up with 102 layers on this! the last sasuke i did was even more than that.
my poor computer.

doesn't mean you're lazy, i'm just anal. if i blend on just a single layer, i'm always afraid i'll mess it up...
so i do each shade on a different one... just in case.

ohh...I tend to overuse the blend tool and refuse to even try the dodge one...
Though it doesn't mean your anal, just really picky. [anal? Who came up with that phrase?!] My art is lazy unless I do it by hand...even a lil' lazy then.

i do all the initial coloring and blending in painter with digital watercolors, so it's a bit different from photoshop... but i won't use painter's dodge tool. it's crazy. photoshop's is a lot nicer. i'm not a big dodge fan in the first place, though... i paint all the light and shadow by hand in the first place.

Ah. That makes sense. I've never used photoshop; just GIMP. It's cheaper [See also; Free] and I can ask some of RL/online friends if I screw something up.
I don't like people who overuse the dodge tool, for some people, it hurts your eyes to even look at all the bright spots.

agreed. i try to use the dodge and burn tool sparingly. except for metal. it's good for that.
oh, i've never used gimp. i thought about before i acquired PS and painter, though. it seems good, especially for the price.

anyone who can use a mouse and make it look like they used a tablet amazes me. they deserves a buttload of cookies.
oh, i love my tablet. most people have to readjust how they work... but they get used to it. it feels soooo natural to me. i didn't have any problems learning to use it...
except i kept trying to wipe off non-existent eraser shavings at first. haha.
good thing i love it and know how to use it, too, because i had to have one for a class last year.

i know, right? i'm surprised my computer can take that massive of a file!
i'm paranoid, though. like... every shade of hair (there's about seven) is on it's own layer... and the same thing happens with every other part... then, when i'm ready to add small details, i duplicate the original layers, merge the duplicates, and make the originals invisible...
so if i mess it up, i have what i originally did and i don't have to do it all over again.
i'm a layer freak.
