Darkleer mostly likes to keep to himself because A) he smells bad, B) he's ridiculously strong and he doesn't like interacting with breakable people, C) now that Rage, Hope and Life have left the program he considers himself the top of the rightful power scale and is frequently reminded, when he hangs out with the others, that that's not the case.  But Ms. Leijon has a tendency to go down and make sure he's still alive down in the Void room, and bring him food and make him stop working on his current project long enough to eat it, so... >u>

He'll have a part in the story too, although not a huge one--there are 36 people involved in this story, so unfortunately some of them aren't going to get nearly as much screentime as I'm sure some people would like them to. U_U
