i adore your line work.

there is something very appealing about your characters, a simple innocence. in this, the balloon head, the unbalanced eyes signifying pain (even w/o the tears) -- so easy yet so expressive. in a way reminds me of some of gerard scarfe's work for pink floyd's the wall, with the simplicity of the characters versus the machinery of loss and life and death in the symbolism surrounding.

your line work is just great. do you vary pressure much? what size is this work?

this is the best heart/valentine themed deviation i've seen this year. a typical theme, sure, but understated -- i am a fan of graphic imagery, but i'm a secret fan of sublime understatement. and the face took my attention for so long it was a full minute before i noticed the heart in the hand. ***the greys are perfect. funereal.***

and i like how s/he (that the figure is androgynous is also a great touch) is threadbare-clothed, bandanged, and tied down all w/the same lines, the same strips. great economy.

your gallery has inspired me. i'm gonna start doing some line works and see if i can do anything as expressive as you, Annika. i've always sketched little scnes with simple stick-like characters , often with abstract/surreal backgrounds, and always thought of them as doodles, masturbation of a kind, but maybe i can make something more with my little predilection. thanks! inspiration is hard to come by.

peace,
--wayne

First of all I want to thank you for your comment, it is a real joy to read and I think I understand most of it but since it's more easier to understand then to write back I really don't have a clue on how I should answer back... but I will at least try and answer your questions.

The size is around 20 x 8,5 centimeters.
I'm not sure what you mean with "do you vary pressure much?", so I really don't know what I should write.

I'm so happy to hear that my work has inspired you, because I also know how hard inspiration can be.

They are really great... I bought mine through a internet store that sold graffiti things but I have seen other markers at different internet store that sell art supplies. There also seems to be a lot of different brands out there like; PRO MARKER, Copicmarker, TRIA Marker and Prismacolor Markers . My markers is called Touch markers and I have a cool grey set that has 12 pens. I only wish I had the money to by some coloured ones too.

Thank you very much.

Hi hi...thanks.
The reason she is being bald is that that is one of my fears (not my biggest but still...) and I wanted to get that emotion to it. But thanks for letting me know you opinion
