I came up with putting some Latin words of wisdom on there to fill up some residual space, so he picked those 2 - those are also the only reason why I'm calling these "baroque". The two mottos - "Carpe Diem" ("Seize the day") and "Memento Mori" ("I commemorate death") - are one of the most recognizable features of German/European poetry in the earlier part of the baroque era, being inspired by death constantly looking over the general population's shoulder during the 30 Years' War.
The two numbers on the back are 7 and 13 in Roman numbers. I have no idea why he picked those^^
