the trick is to use big brush-strokes, and different shades of the fur color. Its also a good thing to paint with lighter, more saturated furs on a dark base color.
the big brush strokes resemble the strands of hair, not individual hairs.
And I only detail out stuff that are in focus (around the eye mostly).
