Description

Dusk is setting on the great torii of Miyajima. A Japanese Dragon rises from the bay. He is quite young in Dragon years, only about 500 years old or so. He scents the air, soon other Dragons will arrive at his father’s palace to celebrate the day of the Dragon. He slips beneath the waters and swims to the palace.

Happy World Dragon Day everybody.

I'm sure Miyajima is one of the most interesting shrines.
I reccomend you will confirm the time of flood (or edd) tide of water concretely before your visit.
Because... if you want to see the beautiful torii which stand on the sea, the time of the flood tide is the best time.
And if you want to walk to the feet of the big torii, the time of the ebb tide (especially during the spring tide) is the best time.

I think all season is nice for visiting Miyajima. But, let me think...

From the last of March to early April --- sakura season
April & May (except Golden Week) or Octorber --- comparatively nice and calm weather seasons
From the mid to the end of Novenber --- falling season

I reccomend those seasons.
And Miyajima is one of the popular tourist spots in Japan. As temples and shrines in Kyoto, it gets crouded by tourists in Japanese (and Chinese) holiday seasons. So you should avoid several seasons of the follow.

Chinese New Year (the last of January or somewhere in February)
Golden Week (Japanese Holiday season from the last days of the April to the early May) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_W…
Obon Festival season in Japan (15/Aug and previous one week)
National Day in China (one week around 1/Oct)

There are a lot of people in tourist spots of Japan then. People, people and people...

Very nice, the dragon has a very good design and colour pattern. You have put an eye on all the details like scales or the face - I like it!
