Description
Small birthday drawing for . This is Owl, one of the heroines of his fantastic story "Raven, Owl and the Merchants". This is the first watercolour I have done in months. I feel very rusty but in general quite pleased with this. I hope I got Owl's appearance right?___________

Stunning use of warm colours, and I love how the owl and Owl mirror one another in their pose, her hair is wonderful, white is not easy to shade but it's beautiful

Thank you! I know what you mean about white - white hair is so hard to shade. I think this was my best attempt as of yet. But I still need practice!

It's lovely, and I like how all the curls are defined. They say that white reflects colour beside it, so shading with tones similar to skin near skin is supposed to work (but does it really???)

This is gorgeous! I love how serene Owl's expression is and the golden light shimmering in through the window contrasts so beautifully with her hair. Plus I'm envious of your ability to draw actual owls too- and as always, your watercolour technique is sheer perfection! I also like the little added detail of the ivy in the background and how it compliments Owl's robes.

Gosh, thank you so much dear! I'm so glad you like it! Heh, owls are pretty hard, but still easier than robins in my opinion. I'm trying to draw some robins now and it's a struggle...

Wow! I am not familiar with the character, but the art you've created for her is wonderful. I like the soft colors and how the light coming through the window looks like it's pulled straight from autumn evenings. Thanks for sharing!

Gosh, really? I'm SO glad to hear that. The reason I took a break from watercolor is that I felt I'm getting worse...so if the break helped get back on track then that's soooo uplifting! <3

She's gorgeous, the similarity between her and the owl is really cute - it's her spirit animal, isn't it? I like the choice of yellow for the background, it works out wonderfully with her bright hair and the tawny colours.

Thank you!! Well in Azul-din's story humans have special connections with their animals. So Huon, the owl, in in some respects just a regular owl I guess. But the connection between them is deeper.Β

Ah, I'm so glad you like my take on Owl. I plan to do a Raven at some point too...I never have a full image of a character in my head until I draw them!
