I'm liking this quite a bit, but I think Iki's completely human expression and movements in the first panel are waaay over the top, especially since I don't recall any such precedence in any of the earlier pages. It's not even anatomically possible for a canine to move like that on his own. One of the things I liked about this story originally is the range of emotions that were portrayed within the limits of canine expression. I do like the new artwork, but having such a ridiculous pose/movement with the more realistic style is rather off-putting. That sort of thing is more suitable to cartoonish artwork. Additionally the other wolf seems completely oblivious to all of Iki's comments, which also seems odd - gives the entire scene a rather forced feel to it.
Regardless, the artwork is certainly beautiful. I'm just hoping for a more natural set of reactions.

I agree with the OP. While humerous and everyone has seen teenagers do this.. It's a little too human feeling. But it is reguardless another beautiful page. Though I'll be very glad when they get on with the story instead of the redoes. I understand why they're doing it, but it's been such a loonnngg time, and there's still far to go.

Agreed! I love the beauty and color in these pages, but I miss the originals too. They had such an honest charm to them. I hope if they ever do publish that they include the originals as 'extra" material. Or even post the originals as a complete story on their site. It would be a shame to lose them! And I'm anxious to see the rest of the story, too. I would have liked to see that before re-doing old material.

You might recall a scene later with the mother where it went extremely over-the-top. Just enjoy the comic for what it's worth.

I'm enjoying the comic, but it seems like this is a big discrepancy from what we've seen before, is all. Enough so that I felt it was worth commenting on - just really seems out of place.

There's a scene where Iki splats green stuff on his 'sister" and the mother goes off, that's the most out of place thing I can see. The comic's taken huge strides since the beginning, so, while I see where you're coming from, I personally find it charming. It IS an anthropomorphic comic after all.

It's anthropomorphic in terms of human emotions for the wolves, but it definitely hasn't been anthropomorphic in terms of impossible anatomic movements for a non-physically anthropomorphic character. XD To me it's just out of place for everything that I've seen and remember so far, which is the only reason I comment on it. I think a good comic should be consistent with the world that's been shown, and that bit just isn't. The positioning of Iki's paws is what gets me more than his facial expression. Like he's suddenly a deliberate cartoon while everything else around him is plausibly realistic. I don't think it has anything to do with the developmental strides of the comic, but more with inconsistency.

I want this in a book or something. Please make it happen someday when you guys are through. The art is so good for my eyes, and the story is very interesting and has a lot of potential. Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssseeeeeeeeee
