Description Lycentia tries to comprehend her fate in what might well be her future home in the Null Void.

For those of you not familiar with her, Lycentia rescued the title character of Torin's Passage when he was a baby, but she is accused of kidnapping him and sentenced to spend the rest of her life in The Lands Below. The collar she wears prevents her from returning to her homeland, which explains her tugging at it.

Her story is a pretty tragic one, and I wanted to draw her during one of her "bad times". I knew she must have suffered during her many years in The Lands Below. (However, I cheated a little and copied the crystals from the game. I just could not find a good way to draw the blasted things.)

And to think some people didn't like this game...

Me too -- even though she was eventually revealed as a "good" character, she never really got a happy ending aside from being freed from her prison. I guess that was just another loose end meant to be tied up in the sequel to Torin's Passage that was never made. :\

Unfortunately, yeah. Now I really feel inclined to go poking around and see if I can find a copy of the game again - used to have a physical CD copy of it years and years ago, but it seems to have disappeared.

Nothing quite like it, really.

Also, am I the only one who feels like the intro to Torin was super-reminiscent of the beginning of the '97 animated Anastasia? In story and style.

For some inexplicable reason, I've never seen Anastasia, even though I keep telling myself that I should. I guess I should see it now, to see if it really does look like the intro to Torin.

Oh, yeah. Evil monk/sorceror dude? Check. Green floaty spirits? Check. Dead royal family? Check, check, check. Heir to the throne surviving with the help of a palace employee? Check.

I think that this is the only piece of Lycentia fan art on the internet. Which, when you think about it, make it the best.

Concerning the game. I think that the reason people didn't like it, and it's the same for me, is the fact that the end was so anti-climactic. The ending sequence should have been much longer and final. The way the game ended made it seem like they had every intention of making a sequel; while at the same time, it seemed like they wanted it to be the only game in the series. Do you know what I mean?

Thanks. According to his website, Al Lowe wanted the game to be the first of a series. The design document for the game also had a more complete ending outlined (Torin being crowned king of the Lands Above with Boogle becoming the Court Jester). I guess they ran out of time and or/money during the game's production.

that makes sense. After all, adventure games were dying off at the time the game was made.

Woah, Torin's Passage! There's something I didn't expect ta see fanart for.
Yeah, I felt bad for Lycentia. Really bad, actually. Poor lady. I do imagine her suffering badly. This is awesome.

I'll take a look! Hehe, a lot of memories in their games. Torin's Passage, KQ, QFG, Lara Bow, (heh... even mixed up mother goose. ), I loved them. Oh, and Kyrandia was another favorite, but I don't think that was Sierra, hehe.
