Description Yamin the cheetah and two king cheetahs (though the one on the right should probably be called a queen cheetah). Yamin is in his late adolescence, while the others are slightly older.

The story behind this scene is that the two kings are daring Yamin to steal a chicken from a nearby ranch (he is a target for their bullying since he looks like an "unfinished" king cheetah with his black-tipped mane and unique spots). This could probably be the same time when Yamin sees an actual target being used by humans and realises that he has the same markings on his shoulders and hips, setting the stage for the paranoid, skittish state of mind that he finds himself in for the rest of his life (his overblown fear of lions also makes for some great conflict when he learns that his daughter Sarala's future mate has a lion for a friend).

I'm trying to find a style for drawing big cats that is different from the style that the Lion King lions are drawn in. I think I'm aiming towards "slightly naturalistic, yet easy-to-draw", but I still haven't hit it right on the head yet.

Speaking of TLK, as I was working on this drawing, I got a request for "a king cheetah and 2 cubs playing". Since I wasn't told whether both cubs should be the offspring of the king, I made one of the cubs into Yamin, and as the other cub...well, after looking at the above image, you should be able to recognise her. - [link]

Also, there's some pretty humorous irony at work here...I'm trying to break away from the Disney style, but look closely at the spots on the king on the left...I didn't mean to put a "hidden Mickey" there, but it certainly looks like it was intentional, doesn't it?

I see where you're going here with the different styles. You did fantastically great on making them realistic, but yet leaving some cartoonish looks and emotions in. You got the spots just right, along with the skeletal structure.

I can see the storyline going along with it. Yamin getting pressured and such, not so sure about this chicken-taken. The way that they're posed pretty much speaks for itself. Hehee,

I love it!

Thanks! The entire story encompassing most of my cheetah characters is pretty extensive, and not much of it is written down. I just tend to doodle scenes from it and put a little explanation besides each picture.
