In short I exposed for the sky leaving the ground about 2-stops dark.

In camera raw I lightened this using a fair amount of fill light, and I evened everything out by using a graduated neutral density filter to darken the sky a little.

Within photoshop I made selective and global contrast adjustments with a few curve layers, some with masking. Finally I brought out the color using Nik Color EFEX pro [link] . The orange and blue was already there, I just intensified it using a bi-color warm-cool filter.

Finally I applied a little unsharp mask to the image for sharpening.

Color EFEX is a great plug in, I highly recommend it. If you get into black and white check out Silver EFEX as well, I do all my black and white conversion with it.

I hope this helps

Ohh now I understand ... you have asked me what technique I want to know ... damn I am so stupid ...
Anyway ... thank you for your answer ... I was hoping for answer like this.
I'll try the software that you have mention (Color Efex Pro). I am using photoshop and lightroom already, but I dont work with layers ... I just set settings and I am playing a lot with graduated filter in lightrom ...
Well thank you again and sorry for my misunderstanding in my previous post

Thanks as always Jesse!

1 exposure actually, just like we discussed, exposed for the highlights and brought up the low lights with fill light and a GND filter in camera raw.

Very nice. Well done exposure then, that is tough to bring up the darks that much when shooting into the sun like that.

The clouds knocked a stop or 2 off the high end, so it was JUST enough for me to do it. I was happy with the result, the noise level was virtually non-existent.

wow that is so beautiful! i've seen similar shots before but for some reason this one caught me. i mean, it just looks like paradise. i thought, this would be Eden; to sit in that field with someone you love and watch that sun goes down.. what more could there be?

great picture

yeah sometimes you have to look for a spot and then sometimes you just stumble on one.
it paid off though
