I wonder if the guys who did the Super Mario Bros. movie got the idea for its plot from this anime? Because the plot between the two was surprisingly similar (exempting of course that Peach actually WAS a resident of the alternate world in the anime, while in the movie, Peach, or rather, Daisy, was effectively born in our reality). Heck, Peach's brooch in this movie even served a similar function to Daisy's meteorite shard necklace regarding connecting two worlds.
