Eeeey, it's been awhile since I've posted anything, I've been sorta down about art for awhile. But now I'm back and with this entry for an RRO contest that I'm actually pretty proud of. It was a lot of fun and the prompt of designing a costume had me really inspired. I'm a little nervous not all the details come across (the rose pattern on the skeleton vest for example) but I hope it shows up well enough ;v;

Now on to my long winded explanation of design choices:

I tried to add a lot of details to the outfit because I started by looking at venetian carnival outfits first and those things are hella detailed. I wanted to make sure it at least somewhat called back to that. Also I of course had to keep the design classy and with a lot of roses, this is the oasis after all.

The outfit is supposed to be subtly rebellious in that it associates roses (rrd's fave) with death, and I tried to also subtly make it almost look like a sort of vigilante get up. The "blood" around the collar is supposed to symbolize the gems who have been silenced by the oasis, and the blood soaked feather represents how histories quills have been tainted with this same demand of silence. The whole idea of Dead mans song though is that the voices of the dead can't really be silenced as their messages of truth and desire for freedom will live on.

I hope that at least made a little sense and honestly props to anyone who was actually willing to read my ramblings.
