Description WOOoo

last semester I had Hurley as a mentorship project, the project was to be focused on sustainability, eco friendly fabrics, limiting the usage of water and etc...

we were split into 3 groups and in pairs of 2. each group had to focus on one of the following: Regeneration (repurposing old garments found in thrift stores), Zero waste (saving fabric by the way the patterns are drafted and cut) and Heirloom (traditional/classic silhouettes with designs that get better through time).

my partner and I were on the Heirloom team and chose a classic poncho, fishing vest, denim bottoms, and a skirt as our inspiration, and each item had a twist.

poncho- made of recycled polyester and the garment is reversible.

dresshirt- made of 100% pendalton wool and was designed to maintain the zero waste ideas.

denim bottoms - the bottoms were a classic shape but has a detachable pouch from either side of the hips, and the pouch zips to itself and creates a purse as seen in the outfit with the vest.

vest- the vest was made on the bias, though bias does waste alot of fabric, the left over fabric was passed around and used in the team so nothing would be wasted. the top portion of the vest is detachable, and becomes a vest with mesh vents. (vents were important in this project to eliminate sweat. since sweat is a#1 reason why garments are constantly washed.)

skirt- the skirt was designed to be able to be worn in 3 differnt ways. one as a tube top dress as seen in the photo, a skirt when pulled down and a bubble skirt.

my partner made the poncho, denim bottoms, and dresshirt.
whereas I've made the Vest, Skirt, and both pouch and purse.

our whole teams garments were on displayed on H space at the Hurley HQ and the exhibit was amazing!!!
I am so proud to have been on the team!

after the exhibit is over at hurley, the garments will be shipped over to be on display at NIKE.

Okay first off those outfits are amazing and congratulations on the exposure. Secondly I don't suppose you'd be willing to talk more about the pouches that turn into a purse and about construction and everything because I want them... like now.

Seriously amazing job. You are going far.
