Description [...] I give Holmes’s remarks as a consecutive whole and will not attempt to indicate how they were interrupted by gaspings for breath and those clutchings of his hands which indicated the pain from which he was suffering. His appearance had changed [936] for the worse during the few hours that I had been with him. Those hectic spots were more pronounced, the eyes shone more brightly out of darker hollows, and a cold sweat glimmered upon his brow. He still retained, however, the jaunty gallantry of his speech. To the last gasp he would always be the master.
“You will tell him exactly how you have left me,” said he. “You will convey the very impression which is in your own mind–a dying man–a dying and delirious man. Indeed, I cannot think why the whole bed of the ocean is not one solid mass of oysters, so prolific the creatures seem. Ah, I am wandering! Strange how the brain controls the brain! What was I saying, Watson?”
“My directions for Mr. Culverton Smith.”
“Ah, yes, I remember. My life depends upon it. Plead with him, Watson. There is no good feeling between us. His nephew, Watson–I had suspicions of foul play and I allowed him to see it. The boy died horribly. He has a grudge against me. You will soften him, Watson. Beg him, pray him, get him here by any means. He can save me–only he!”
“I will bring him in a cab, if I have to carry him down to it.”
“You will do nothing of the sort. You will persuade him to come. And then you will return in front of him. Make any excuse so as not to come with him. Don’t forget, Watson. You won’t fail me. You never did fail me. No doubt there are natural enemies which limit the increase of the creatures. You and I, Watson, we have done our part. Shall the world, then, be overrun by oysters? No, no; horrible! You’ll convey all that is in your mind.”

god I absolutely LOVE your style! Holmes and Watson look so cool and the story of course is just awesome. I really wanted to kill Holmes for doing that to Watson, though I'm glad he at least got a little scare when Watson touched the poinsoned box. xD

This story was so epic. First I was like whaaaat and then I was like HAAAAHaha I had such a whale of a time when I read the end of it!! He's such a master, such a genius! And he probably did have a blast acting like this, plus, it actually worked out!

The only way I can NOT totally want to punch Holmes in the face is to hope that he didn't laugh.

And hate on Culverton Smith. Because that always makes me feel better.

Ooh! And reading Vows Made in Storms by KCS & PGF

aaaaaAAAAAaaaaa i love this. I spittake'd at the part where Holmes is all "QUICKLY, WATSON IF YOU LOVE ME YOU'LL HIDE BEHIND THIS SECRET ROOM BEHIND MY HEADBOARD."

then I remember that ALL victorian literature uses mushy terms like that to each other.

PFFFHahahaha Mój ulubiony tekst i ulubiony rozdział! 'naprawdę nie rozumiem dlaczego ocean nie stanowi jednolitej masy ostryg' 'Czy to oznacza, że ostrygi przejmą władzę nad światem?! O nie, to byłoby straszne!'
Świetne wykonanie, najbardziej podobają mi się dwie ostatnie kratki ^^

I got sad when I read that story, I really thought he was going to die D: I told my dad that I was starting to get sad in the middle of the story and he said, "Don't worry, Sherlock won't die." and I said, "How do you know? >_>" and He answered, "Because everybody needs him, he has much more to do." and then I was like, '' when he was right xD

Is it bad that I wanted to pick up pretend!delirious!Holmes and snuggle him until he was no longer so angsty looking? I mean since I knew in the first place that he was perfectly fine.

alajna In reply to flying-katana [2011-08-18 10:17:39 +0000 UTC]

I think that Watson should slap him in the face for all these jokes and misunderstandings and his behaviour towards him |'D

flying-katana In reply to alajna [2011-08-18 14:59:55 +0000 UTC]

I often suspect that Holmes simply likes an excuse to see how much Watson cares for him, but sometimes he just NEEDS to be punched in the face. There's this one line in The Empty House where he's saying that he was rather amused by The Final Problem. Personally, I think he's lying there. I mean, an account of how much his best friend misses him now that he's dead would have to be pretty tearjerking for the guy.

This rant he did about oysters always makes me laugh. I always pictured Sherlock laughing after Watson left.
My Mom and I are big fans of Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett and last time I was sick I did the oyster rant and my mom nearly laughed up a lung.
