I know alot of Zelink fans will hate me for this but..I honestly dont think Link ever ends up with Zelda ever in like any of the stories, I dont think he'd want any royal position anyway(like becoming a Prince or a King) I believe he eventually moves on and marries a commoner girl we never see since he knows Zelda is royalty and would more likely marry another royal

As much as the fan's want/don't want it, I have heard several theories that Link from Twilight Princess is either the son or grandson of Malon and OoT Link. Seeing how Twilight Princess is approximately 100 years after Ocarina of Time, I guess that TP link is the grandson. The only female who played a big role in the OoT story-line who did not become a sage was Malon. A gossip stone in front of the Temple of Time says how Malon wants a knight in shining armor to sweep her off her feet.
Malon seems to be really cheerful around Link, especially after he rescues Epona.
To add onto the theory, If link had married Ruto, the next Link descendant would be a Zora/human hybrid. Saria is Kokiri so the decendant would be a kid forever....(also that's kind of pedoish)
Malon seemed to be the only Hylian in Ocarina of Time that was a love interest of the Hero of Time.
Zelda, although showed concern for Link, only showed it as a friend.
Epona is in TP which means that the Epona in OoT must have mated with another horse. The only horses in OoT that are not evil are Zelda's white horse and the other horses on Lon Lon Ranch.
When playing TP and you meet the golden wolf, that is the spirit of the "Hero of Time" also known as your ancestor. Which means OoT Link must have started a relationship with one of his love intrests. Which brings me back to the whole Hylian, Zora Kokiri thing. Malon is the only Hylian girl that showed intrest in Link.
Oddly enough, TP Link is a rancher, In his ancestor's time (Ocarina of Time) the only ranch was owned by Talon and his daughter Malon. With all of this, it is highly possible that Malon and Link the Hero of Time did have a relationship.
This had to have happened before the incident of Majora's Mask as Link has Epona in Majora's mask. Which he did not get until an adult. Zelda sent him back to his childhood at the end of OoT but Link is not a child at heart, so this may not have effected anyone else but him and Zelda herself. Which means Malon must have remained an adult. At the end of Majora's Mask you see Link riding Epona in the lost woods without a fairy. In the biggoron sword mission in OoT, when you go to give Grog the medicine, Fado is there ams makes a comment on him turning into a Stalfos. Back to Majora's Mask, Link does not have Navi so he cannot be guided through the forest safely. In doing so Link becomes lost, dies and turns into a Stalfos.
The Hero's Spirit in Twilight Princess is filled with regrets on not teaching his knowledge of a swordsman to someone. He was possibly heading back to Hyrule and go back to being an adult and teaching his son the ways of a swordsman. In getting lost, he began to feel regret as he knew his time was about to end. Which is why you meet his spirit in Twilight Princess. Usually when a spirit is left behind they have either not completed what they had to do or they are attached to a certain thing within the area they have died.
As for Malonβs side of this theory, I cannot really tell what happens after The Hero of Timeβs death in the end of Majoraβs Mask.

you shared the same theory I have always had in my mind since forever...xD I always figured Malon and Link had babies that grew up and had babies that grew up and had babies then here comes Link in Twilight Princess, I always had this idea that TP link is the great great grandson of OOT Link

Though At Majora's Mask Link is only 10 - 12 and Haveing intercourse With Malon at that age seems a little creepy >_> I do know he isn't a child at heart and neither is Malon in your theory but it's still just a little creepy lol Sorry... Though I am very intrigued by your idea that Link never makes it out of that forest. That seems like a sad way to go, but Its a very interesting idea. Zelda sends ONLY herself and Link back in time, during the credits sequence Malon is an adult. Link had to have intercourse with her during his adulthood. Before the Credits, Zelda returns you and herself to a child and apologizes that you lost 7 years of your life. If she was to totally set back time Malon would have to be a kid. Plus Saria was a Sage during the credits. Ruto was an Adult in the credits sequence as well. Link Leaves Hyrule during the credits although it is not seen. I am unsure whether the horse seen running in the credits is Epona or not. They had to make Epona a yearling in Majora's Mask game as a fully grown Belgian Horse will be tough for a kid to climb onto.
I strongly believe that Malon and Link the Hero of Time had a relationship which is why I believe my theory is true.
