Description Two of these were leased to the old Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad in 1946, and proved to be quite economical and did their work with ease and didn't suffer the catastrophic wheel slip that plagued the 52 rigid-framed T1 Duplexes on home territory since the class was first introduced in 1942.  This also brings up a possibility that crews of the old Pennsylvania Railroad didn't know how to properly run these firece machines.  Improper training led to unnecessary throttle application, which led to 100 mile an hour wheel slip when not low balling.  Here 5502 is seen thundering along with an express, circa 1947, maybe whisking "The Broadway Limited" to Harrisburg or Chicago.  All were withdrawn by the end of 1952, the K4 Pacifics reigning supreme right to the end of Pennsylvania Railroad steam operation in 1957.  5550's owners, the T1 Trust, are undoing the damage done in 1956.
