lots of baldies are here, too - there are some of the tiniest hummers I've ever seen.. and stellar jays and a lot of other feathered friends whose names I don't know.

I have seen lots, but of course they are so quick.. I never seem to see them long enough & haven't been able to get a picture yet. One day - but not yet.
I plan on spending some time in the neighboring forest this spring and summer - to get lots of photos of birds and wildlife.

It was so windy - I don't know how those critters can stand being that cold. Brr.. I was only in it for a few minutes and was COLD... Ahhh the mysteries of nature.

Well they must have pretty thick and insulating feathers.
I read that some birds and especially waterfowl have an ability to chill their blood before it goes down to the legs so that they don't lose precious heat.

Oh I'm pretty sure they do have quite the pack of feathers on them. I suspect they're also oily to prevent water from hanging around. I'd never heard that about chilling their blood.. that's cool.. & yep!! Nature kicks!!!

Great Blue Heron.... I think that might have been the same bird I saw in the Galapagos.
