Description
Finally finished this character from this sketch
I don't know why I did, I'm so far off from actually getting to Kiara's Reign, but I really like the characters on this sketch so I'll probably end up doing this with all of them at some point. But mostly this was to help me get some of my art-mojo back. I really need to start producing again and getting commissions out and this was the first thing that's inspired me in a little while so I needed to run with it.
If you haven't read the description in the sketch, this character is going to be in the Northland Pride in Kiara's Reign. I have been world building and developing on the Patreon Discord and in private, but the sketch doesn't have any story spoilers so I just went with it. To learn more, you need to be a patreon subscriber But that doesn't mean you guys can't be a little bit involved.
Also, this character needs a name. I'll post their bio below. Suggest names below! Please provide the translation of the name and what language it's from.
Name: ??????
Gender: Non-Binary
Sexuality: Asexual (not aromantic)
Personality: Genuinely a nice and caring person who loves to teach as much as they love to learn. However, due to their abilities to feel the earth's pain, as well as the pain of others, they often isolate themselves. It’s also hard for others to understand what they feel, and so they find it hard to relate to others as others find it hard to relate to them. But on good days they are happy to be with the pride, learning and teaching and being with them- particularly young ones as they are the most eager to learn. While they tend to isolate, they are not weak willed or cowardly. If there is strife within the kingdom or the pride then they will be there for support, and they have no problem standing up to others.
Spiritual Ability: The lead shaman of the Northland Pride (needs name), they are the epicenter of spiritual energy within the pride. That means their ability overlaps all those within the pride, but their personal spiritual strength is that of an empath. They can feel emotions and physical pain in the world, beings, pride members, plants, and earth around them. They also, much like Rafiki, maintain the memories of the past and can recall them. Finally, they are the most in tune with spirits on the other side, though the loudest voices to them are more benevolent spirits such as the Kings and Queens of the past.
Background: Not much is known about their history as they were brought as an orphaned cub to the pride by the previous lead shaman. As a cub they did not speak until they were in their adolescence, and even then did not reveal their past. It is rumored they might not remember despite being able to receive and hold all the memories of the Northland’s past, or that their early cubhood must have been unpleasant. But they were raised by the lead shaman, who took charge of their learning when, as a cub, they started to show spiritual abilities common in their land and pride. What was uncommon was how adept they were at many spiritual skills, indicating she had ability closer to the lead shaman than the other pride members. The lead shaman at the time poured their heart, soul, and spiritual knowledge and ability into them until the day they passed. The loss they felt was dreadful, and feeling the pride’s loss on top of their own did not help. This marked the point where they would start to isolate themselves, but that did not mean they shirked their duties. They took up the role as lead shaman and have been in that role ever since. They will remain that way until death, though they still hold hope they might one day be able to raise up the next lead shaman much like their mentor had done for them.
Extra:
The markings and symbols on their coat are paint- like Rafiki’s paint from fruits and things.
The symbols used are Adinkra Symbols, or adaptations of said symbols.
