Aldar The Dingo, and Max Hare, the last hope for a purely natural wilderness. According to the Sonic X continuity, Earth is an entirely different planet to the world of Sonic [also known as Mobius, by old school fans] and is accessible through the use of Chaos Emeralds to create a kind of portal.
At about the same time that Ivo Robotnic was sent to the world of Mobius as a child due to an accident during experiments conducted by his father Gerald Robotnic, Several other animals were sent to a reletive timeline on Earth, scattered by several years.

Max and Aldar were sent to Australia, 20XX. Aldar grew up in the Nulabor Plains, learning to love the arid wilds, living with a pack of wild dingos, defending the plains from human intrusion and 'development'. Learning to hate humans for their destruction of nature, he got himself into a spot of trouble. A nearby village found him, and nursed him back to health, removing most of his stigma against humans. He met with Max there, who had become the local technician, and together, with new vehicles and supplies, they founded the nulabor defenders.

Some time later, Aldar found a small black hedgehog buried in the sand. [link] Returning the favor to the fates, he took the hedgehog back to the village and when he recovered his strength, the newcomer joined the defenders, for at least untill he found a way back home, and exact the vengence he saught.
