Description Plunge, as how can a diver not,
breathless with whale guile,
as warmth and light are left

far behind. The deep
has its own unlikely
sources of light and heat.

Is there a brink? Will
anyone imagine a solid
ledge of cliff beneath the feet?

Or are we, like whale whelp,
immersed from the very first
moment of organic sight?

Who can plumb the depths
of the cosmic ocean, the tides
of life and death
in which we swim?

Nice thought-image. Life certainly has no impartial observers.

I love this [: Very philosophical, very smart, and I love the imagery. I always love extended metaphors, and you use it really well here.
