and it happened again! okay, i guess this one was inevitable but i get the feeling that marvel likes to kill the characters i like the most.and even worse: those are the characters that don't keep coming back, like most of the other characters they are killing to sell books.
it started with ben reilly (scarlet spider) who was killed by friggin norman osborn, who was raised from the dead only to do just that (yeah, what an irony).
then phoenix followed and had a short 6-issue mini-comeback only to be white-hot-roomed at the end of the series.
and last but not least the sentry.
i really liked that guy and now he's gone, too and i got the feeling that he won't make his comeback so soon either.
anyways, had fun with this one and it's really an unlikely trio XD two cosmic powerhouses and a good old spider!
they should open a team or something XD

I'm feeling with you. Sentry is by far my favorite comic book character, even after Spider-Man (and all his other egos like the Scarlet Spider) and Nightwing.
To simply kill Sentry was a huge disappointment for me.

nope, he didn't
years ago, ben was working for that bio-scientist guy who later called himself raptor, who invented some stuff that provided him with superpowers and dinosaur dna. ben tried to stop him, but kaine (peters second clone) showed up and they fought. during their fight, the whole place caught fire and raptors powers kicked in, he lost his senses and killed his own family. he didn't realize that HE did it himself so he blamed ben when he regained consciousness.
but that was years ago and ben is still dead.

Admittedly, there has been some bad decisions about what to do with these characters, resulting in permanent comic book death.

not on my hate-list, but i liked the sentry and i had hoped for some foreshadowing scene in the fallen sun epilogue that somehow shows that sentry wont be gone like forever XD

Yeah. Admittedly, this looks like one comic book death that's going to stick. They recently killed off Nightcrawler. NIGHTCRAWLER. Personally, I find that even harder to grasp. XD
Kost did have a point though, what good are the Avengers with a Superman-esque character doing everything better than him?

nooo! he was an awesome character and i liked his personal struggle with the evil within him XD (it's only stupid osborns fault that he freaked out)
it made the character more believable, unlike certain guys with red capes and a big S on their chests

Honestly, the character of Sentry did have potential, being a guy struggling with godlike power that's stuck in a world where no one remembers him... until Bendis took over and fucked it all up by making him a loon.

He was ruined the moment they brought him into the Avengers - where's the story when you have a character who can do everything better than all the other heroes? Someone who can defeat Dr Doom and Molecule Man without breaking a sweat? The mental issues became a plot device -
'Couldn't the Sentry just sort this out' 'er... no, he's crazy at the moment...'
'How can we get them out of this?' 'Oh, the Sentry is alright now!' Yawn. Glad he's gone!

the sentry being an avenger was crap, i give you that, but the character had so much potential.
i mean his whole struggle with the void was much more interesting to read as banner fighting his hulk-ego for example.
and there was his mysterious enemy (the general or whatever his name was) that basically created the void, made him wipe out his own memory and that of the whole world, it would have been cool to see more of that.
and they totally exeggerated on his powers.
at first no one really knew what he can do, people only said "power of a thousand exploding suns" then they suddenly said "power of a million exploding suns" and then he fought the hulk and was beaten, that much for the million exploding suns, lol.
