Description Comments:
I wanted to make another Japanese theme like "The Samurai" [link] I did in the past. I kept the painting style I seem to favor, and makes the subjects that I crop and paste seem to blend in better. It took me a great deal to stop messing with this image... I'm almost never really happy of a finished image. I keep going back to it and fixing some imperfection I don't like... and back again.. and back again. I uploaded and updated this image 5x so far haha... you can hardly notice any changes... oh well I should just let it be!

Update:
11-10-2007 - Added some plume on the Crane, color correction.

I think James Whistler would probably have enjoyed this. It's very much down his alley, so to speak.
If you ever get to DC there's a whole gallery devoted to his work near the Smithsonian.

It's amazing! I absolutely adore the painting effect. Just curious how you achieve it.. If you use the smudge tool or paint over or both? It's really beautiful.

Textures and noise > median.
I rarely use smudge at all maybe 5% of the time to add the effect of hair on a outline, but thats about it.

Wow! I agree with those before me. It looks like traditional media. The composition is great and I love the thematic approach to it. Beautiful work.
