Description
"Bigfoot" (Nothopenna cristatus)
The colloquially named "Bigfoot" is a very large, flightless pteropsid, considered to be a primitive species and the only remaining member of the Nothopenna genus. It is strictly herbivorous, feeding largely on nuts and fruit found in the Snake river forest. Due to their slow speed and inability to fly, they are not typically chosen as a mount, though their gentle temperament allows for even un-trained pteropsid riders to mount them. Many weary travelers to the area have reported riding on Bigfoots after succumbing to drowsiness or laziness.
Unusually, the Bigfoot's wings fold inward, hence the name "Nothopenna," or "wrong-wing." The narrow, partially-feathered wings are for display purposes, with the yellow skin on the wing membranes flushing brighter during mating season.
