Description
Chicory is common. It grows near roads, on vacant lots, along the banks of rivers. Blooms from June to September. The flowers open at four or five in the morning, and close at two or three in the afternoon. The leaves of the plant are used as a salad, and the roots containing sugary substances, crushed into powder, are added to coffee.
