Description Alright then, I decided to make this drawing to pay tribute to one of my favorite childhood movies, because I have seen it countless times during my childhood and it is one of my favorite within the Disney universe, and because I remember that my parents showed this movie to my sister and I since we were children and this is one of the films that marked me the most in my childhood, because in addition to its great story, beautiful animation and music and unforgettable characters, this film provides valuable teachings and life lessons that one can keep from child and apply them when reaching adulthood because it teaches to respect life, face responsibilities, correct mistakes and that although the past cannot be changed, something can be done to make the present and the future something wonderful and worth being with your loved ones and lead the life you choose and learn from the past so as not to repeat mistakes. Certainly, I think this movie is one of the best that Disney has made and today, I decided to make this drawing to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary. Although many think that this film is very overrated, I think it is great as it is and the truth is, how I would like Disney to make films like this again: with a great story, a protagonist with dreams and who learns a lesson throughout the story having satisfying character development, a love interest, secondary characters who are comic relief, a perverse and evil villain, memorable songs, and beautiful 2D animation. This movie I'm talking about is none other than: “The Lion King”, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, music produced by Hans Zimmer, starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Moira Kelly, Niketa Calame, Ernie Sabella, Nathan Lane, Robert Guillaume, Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, Jim Cummings and Madge Sinclair, produced by Walt Disney Pictures Company, released in 1994 and became the highest-grossing film of 1994 and the second highest-grossing film of all time, behind Jurassic Park.
In the Kingdom Lands of Tanzania, a pride of lions rule the kingdom from Pride Rock. King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi's newborn son, Simba, is introduced to the foraging animals by Rafiki the mandrill, the kingdom's shaman and advisor. Mufasa's younger brother, Scar, covets the throne.
After Simba turns into a cub, Mufasa shows him the Pride Lands and explains the responsibilities of royalty and the "circle of life," which he connects to all living things. One day, Simba and his best friend Nala explore an elephant graveyard, where the two are chased by three spotted hyenas named Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. Mufasa is alerted by his butler, the hornbill Zazu, and rescues the cubs. Although disappointed in Simba for disobeying him and endangering himself and Nala, Mufasa forgives him and explains that the great kings of the past watch over them from the night sky, from which he will one day watch over Simba. Scar, having planned the attack, visits the hyenas and convinces them to help him kill Mufasa and Simba in exchange for hunting rights in the Pride Lands.
Scar sets a trap for Simba and Mufasa, luring Simba into a gorge and having the hyenas drive a large herd of wildebeest into a stampede to trample him. Mufasa saves Simba but ends up dangling dangerously from the edge of the gorge; he begs Scar for help, but Scar throws Mufasa back into the stampede to his death. Scar tricks Simba into believing that Mufasa's death was his fault and tells him to leave the kingdom and never return. He then orders the hyenas to kill Simba, but he escapes. Unaware of Simba's survival, Scar tells the pack that the stampede killed both Mufasa and Simba and steps forward as the new king, allowing the hyenas to enter the Pride Lands.
After collapsing in the desert, Simba is rescued by two outcasts, a meerkat and a wild boar named Timon and Pumbaa. Simba grows up with his two new friends in their oasis, living a carefree life under their motto "hakuna matata" ("no worries" in Swahili). Years later, an adult Simba rescues Timon and Pumbaa from a hungry lioness, who turns out to be Nala. Simba and Nala fall in love and she urges him to return home, telling him that the Pride Lands have been affected by drought under Scar's reign. Still feeling guilty about Mufasa's death, Simba refuses and storms off. He meets Rafiki, who tells Simba that Mufasa's spirit is still alive in him. Simba is visited by the spirit of Mufasa in the night sky, who tells him that he must take his place as king. After Rafiki advises him to learn from the past instead of running away from it, Simba decides to return to the Pride Lands.
With the help of his friends, Simba sneaks past the hyenas at Pride Rock and confronts Scar, who mocks Simba for his alleged role in Mufasa's death and backs him to the edge of the rock. Enraged by the revelation that Scar killed Mufasa, Simba retaliates and forces Scar to confess the truth to the rest of the pack. A battle breaks out between Simba, his allies, and the hyenas. Scar tries to escape, but Simba corners him on a ledge near the top of Pride Rock. Scar begs for mercy and blames the hyenas for his actions; Simba spares Scar's life but, citing what Scar told him long ago, he orders Scar to leave the Pride Lands forever. Scar refuses and attacks Simba, but after a brief battle, Simba throws Scar off the ledge to the ground. Scar survives the fall, but the hyenas, who heard him betray them, attack him and maim him to death.
Without Scar and the hyenas, Simba takes his place as king and Nala becomes his queen. With the Pride Lands restored, Rafiki presents Simba and Nala's newborn cub to the gathered animals, continuing the circle of life.
It held the record for highest-grossing animated feature film (in North America, outside North America, and worldwide) until it was surpassed by Finding Nemo (2003). With the profits from the 3D series, The Lion King surpassed all of the aforementioned films except Toy Story 3 (2010) to rank as the second highest-grossing animated film worldwide; it then fell to ninth and then tenth, surpassed by its photorealistic CGI remake counterpart, and remains the highest-grossing hand-drawn animated film.
Emotionally moving, richly drawn, and beautifully animated, The Lion King stands out within the pantheon of classic Disney family films." It was also ranked 56th on Rotten Tomatoes' "100 Greatest Animated Films." On Metacritic, which uses On Average Weighted, the film received a score of 88 out of 100 from 30 critics, indicating "universal acclaim." Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a rare "A+" grade on a scale of A+ to F.
I think that forever, this film will mark a before and after in my adulthood, because although as a child I was amazed by the animation and music, the story is truly moving and what I enjoy most are the lessons that the film has through two of its characters who are: Mufasa, one of the best fathers in animation who teaches that one can be brave despite being afraid and Rafiki, the king's wise advisor who teaches us to learn from the past, instead of running away from it and I feel that this film is enjoyed more and more the more times one sees it and I am extremely grateful to my parents for having shown me this film as a child because thanks to it, I learned many things and in part I feel that my personality is based upon the lessons from this movie. There really is nothing that I don't enjoy about this film and in general it has many positive aspects and I highly recommend seeing it for those who have not seen it and enjoy it as much as I did as a child and as I do as an adult.
Honestly, it’s nowadays a Disney movie that could ever surpass this beautiful masterpiece? 🦁🐒🐝🪱🐛🦋🐌🐞🐜🪰🪲🪳🦟🦗🕷️🕸️🐊🐆🦓🐘🦛🦏🦒🐃🦩🐾🌳👑☀️🌕💐🌷🌹🪻🪷🌺🌸🌼🌻🥥⛰️🏔️🌅🌄🌌
