Alright, this drawing was requested by a DeviantArt user, who asked me to draw another of her favorite characters from one of my favorite childhood animes, which is about none other than the girl's main protagonist boyfriend, who will later become her husband and the father of their daughter. This character I'm talking about is: Mamoru/Darien Chiba, who is the prince of Earth, also known in the future Crystal Tokyo as the sovereign King Endymion (after marrying Princess Serena/Serenity).
Mamoru/Darien is a very intelligent and focused young man, he studies at the Azabu Institute of Technology, lives alone in an apartment in Jubangai and likes all his school subjects, especially physics, demonstrating a high level of knowledge in mathematics as well as Amy/Ami. The stone he likes the most is gold, he likes to listen to classic music and has computer and English skills.
When Darien was very little, he suffered a car accident, in which his parents died and he lost his memory, so he wants to find the silver crystal to completely recover his memories. He also has recurring dreams where he sees himself with Princess Serena/Serenity, thus remembering part of his life in the Silver Millennium.
Every time Usagi/Serena transforms into Sailor Moon, Mamoru/Darien unconsciously transforms into Tuxedo Mask and goes to help her in her battles. As Tuxedo Mask, Darien uses a tuxedo and a mask, as well as red roses as an attack element. When Tuxedo Mask disappears, Mamoru/Darien does not remember anything of what happened and instead gets severe headaches every time this happens. When Mamoru/Darien meets Usagi/Serena, he thinks she seems like a clumsy, crybaby girl with a very bad temper and whenever he runs into her on the street he annoys her by calling her "odango-head", something that Usagi/Serena can't stand and that's why at first she really disliked him, not knowing that he is her beloved Tuxedo Mask. The insistent Rei always invites him to go out with her to spite the jealousy of Usagi/Serena, with the purpose of making him declare his love for her, then Mamoru/Darien has a brief romance with her. But when Mamoru/Darien regains her memories of Usagi/Serena, he knows that he must protect and love her.
Then the Negaverse dominated him, having him under its orders to gather the rainbow crystals. Now as an evil Endymion, he will find himself on the opposite side of the scale, being against Sailor Moon and the sailor scouts, but Usagi/Serena's love makes Mamoru/Darien reflect on his actions. When the final battle against Queen Beryl takes place, she tries to kill Sailor Moon and Endymion protects her by sacrificing his life. Usagi/Serena manages to defeat Queen Metalia and the Negaverse, and with this Maloru/Darien revives, although his memories have been deleted, his desire to protect Sailor Moon manages to create Moon Knight, who is just a projection of Mamoru/Darien's memories of his love for Usagi/Serena. Mamoru/Darien continues a carefree life without imagining his true destiny, but this time Serena shows him her love, as does Melissa (Ann), a young student who is actually an alien. Although he actually prefers to stay on the sidelines and not commit to anyone.
In the future Crystal Tokyo, Mamoru/Darien/King Endimion and Usagi/Neo Queen Serenity will marry and give birth to a girl known as Chibiusa/Rini, who will become the future princess of Crystal Tokyo.
Mamoru/Darien plans to go to study in the United States, but not before giving Usagi/Serena her an engagement ring, promising to marry her after he returns from studying abroad. While traveling, his plane is attacked by Sailor Galaxia, who immediately steals the star seed from him, killing him instantly. Usagi/Serena, without knowing it, writes a letter to Mamoru/Darien every day, letters that he never answers because his life is extinct. But when Sailor Moon defeats Sailor Galaxia, Mamoru/Darien revives like the sailor scouts and now together with Serena plans to live a life full of happiness. In the future, Mamoru/Darien and Usagi/Serena will marry and become the respected rulers of the kingdom of Tokyo Crystal.
The truth is that when I was a girl, Mamoru/Darien seemed funny and sympathetic to me because he was constantly bothering Usagi/Serena and although he also came to dislike me a little, my mother explained to me that when a person likes another person he/she usually bothers them to get his/her attention, so that I could understand that Mamoru/Darien was really in love with Usagi/Serena and although after it is revealed that Mamoru/Darien was Prince Endimion and Usagi/Serena was Princess Serenity, Mamoru's personality/Darien changed, as he stopped bothering Usagi/Serena and became more serious and more mature, which contrasts with Usagi/Serena's childish and immature personality, but even though Mamoru/Darien became someone different, he never changed his feelings of love and loyalty towards Usagi/Serena, which seemed very tender to me and another thing that I admired was seeing how Mamoru/Darien put up with Usagi/Serena's childish antics and immature personality and although she didn't know how to cook well, he ate what she prepared for him and he always kept his beloved in his thoughts and in his heart during their fights and I must admit that Mamoru/Darien and Usagi/Serena, they became my favorite anime couples because the love they had for each other helped them emerge victorious from the battles and overcome everything that come in their way.
