the golden rectangle disagrees with the rule of thirds. Centralized compositions have been used commonly and successfully in art for millenia. When its all said and done the composition should support the concept. If it does, it doesn't matter how its composed, it's succeeded in its role.

Ahh..so I guess that would be the "exception to the rule"..I've always been just "technical" in my photographs, atleast learning the different techniques and then experimenting more like I have here.

not really, The rule of thirds is really better for people who have no other means of composing.
