Description One of a set of two Christmas cards I designed for my family this year. It was requested that I do something similar to my Snow White pieces, so I chose to do some fantasised-medieval characters celebrating different customs from the Christmas period. It can get so hot here at Christmas that I wanted to do something cool and European, too. The dog featured on the two cards is my dog, Myrna, but the characters are all entirely made up.

This card is inspired by the custom of singing carols at Christmas time.

To see the process for these two pieces, including abandoned concepts and the inked versions, and to see the finished cards with gold embossing please visit this blog post.

Size: A4
Media: Copic Multiliners, Winsor & Newton watercolour paint, Moleskine watercolour paper
Time Taken: Not sure
References: Just one very loose reference for the dog, from a google image search, to get the mouth right (my dog does not howl on cue)

Enjoy!

Lovely work, and your cards seem to improve each year.

Thank you! I think, once we stop improving, we're dead; it's not good to rest on your laurels.
Thanks for the and the :+favs: too!

Thanks so much! I enjoy adding details to paintings - they can be a bit of a pain to colour, but I think it's generally worth it.
